Seems I missed a great game…

At the moment
College English (in the summer, on a non-traditional schedule), but starting in the fall I’m moving to NC to teach 11th grade English.

Hard to believe
this offense could only muster 1 run on 3 hits against Chacon. Then again, this has become a pattern.

Just joined the broadcast
Had to cut the lawn before it rains again. D’oh! Did Chacon pitch well or were the Yanks impatient?

Chacon was anything but dominant
but the offense couldn’t handle him anyways.

I don't get it
Seems like thye have little soul in them. Know what I mean?

Unfortunately, yes
I know one of these days that they are going to really turn it on. It would be nice if it happened sooner or later.

Well...
You were right about Giambi. :-) I would like to see some fire in these guys. I thought we’d see more of it with Girardi at the helm.

I really like that night he go ejected
He was a kick watching that on Sportscenter. I wanna see more of that Joe.

That was fun
I’d like to see a bit of that in the players…not quite enough to get tossed or suspended though.

Re: Giambi
What has surprised me about him is that he’s stayed healthy while playing the field everyday. Didn’t expect that at all.
Kudos to him for being in good shape, but it is only June. Lots of baseball ahead.

Joba’s ERA as a starter so far is 2.84. Not bad for a guy just getting his feet wet.

Joba is really doing well it seems as a starter.

I like that he's been pitching to contact more
His strikeout numbers will certainly increase as he continues to morph into this role.

So who do they march out to pitch the 8th?
Please no Farnsworth
by MedFan on Jun 13, 2008 10:30 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Posada
He has been taken out of the game. Still no word if it was just a defensive replacement or he tweaked that shoulder.
Obviously, losing Posada again would be devastating.

Veras can be nasty
but I still don’t trust him yet. Way too many walks for my liking.
by anaconda on Jun 13, 2008 10:33 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
But
do you trust him less than Farnsworth? We have to remember that we’re not going to replicate Joba in the 8th, merely replace him (unless Melancon is everything we’ve imagined).

No, I'd rather see Veras
That pen has a lot of untrustworthy candidates.

Nice job by Veras
Girardi was on M&MD today and flat out said to Francessa that Farnsworth was going to be the 8th inning guy most of the time because of his experience.
Oh crap, he’s pitching the 9th.

Just heard
But, Molina’s behind the plate, which I like.
Why no Mo? Sore? He pitched yesterday but not the day before- 4 of the last 5.

I guess he wants to rest Mo since he's worked
BTW, Singleton just said Posada was part of a double switch, so it appears there’s nothing wrong with Posada.

I'm saving that term
Girardied.

Hopefully....
they score about 10 runs this inning. I’d be shocked if Farnsworth actually saves this one.

Worthy of note....
the Stros have not used the shift at all tonight with Giambi at the plate.
by anaconda on Jun 13, 2008 10:47 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
He got a couple hits
in the last couple of weeks to beat the shift. If they think he can do it regulary they can’t afford to shift. It’s beautiful.

Seems
like he’s been diligently working on it with someone, dosen’t it.
by whollycow on Jun 13, 2008 10:56 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
He did it during ST but got away from doing it in April and May
No idea why because he was killing the ball during ST.

Off topic....but
the AL All Star squad will be in pretty good shape if they have a lead in the middle innings. Here’s a list of closers who all have a shot to make the team:
Mo, Nathan, Papelbon, K-Rod, and Soria.

It really is surprising
how unbalanced the leagues are-
the NL highlights include Wagner, Lidge, Wood, and Lyon.

And they are 2 games over to equal their high watermark of the season.

I can’t begin to imagine why… :p
