- Hideki Matsui nows leads the AL in hitting at .339 - just ahead of Victor Martinez (.337). Matsui also leads the AL with a .424 OBP.
- The last time the Tribe swept the Yanks at the Stadium was April of 1989.
- Yanks have a paltry 5-10 record against the AL Central this season. Last season, they bludgeoned the AL Central with a 30-11 record.
- Paul Byrd is a lifetime 2-4, 4.64 ERA, 1.45 WHIP in 9 starts against the Yanks, but did win his last start against them in a less than stellar outing on April 25 (5.2 IP, 4 ER).
- Moose is a lifetime 12-9, 4.75 ERA, 1.24 WHIP in 26 starts against the Tribe, including a 5-2 victory over them on April 28 at the Jake.
- Yanks' career numbers vs. Byrd can be viewed here. Tribe career numbers vs. Moose can be viewed here.
- For you baseball purists, Fred Bierman of the NY Times penned an interesting brief history on stirrups and the current "wide array of hosiery styles across MLB." Believe it or not, Manny Ramirez has more in common with the 1868 Cincinnati Red Stockings than one would expect. Who knew?

For all those
hoping we’d play .500 ball for a few weeks just to stay afloat, well, this is what it looks like. Fun, isn’t it?

Treading water is what they need to do
But they are fortunate that Boston hasn’t started the season like gangbusters as they did a season ago. They played nearly .700 ball in April and May last season.

I like
the article on stirrups. I tend to agree with him. I don’t care what they wear, stirrups, socks, long pants, shorts… as long as its uniform. I hate seeing 8 different fashion statements on the field
Crowds are won and lost and won again, but our hearts beat for the diehards.

I like the high stirrups myself
I’m a big fan of the traditional look. But, you’re right, I think it would be better if everyone on the team wore it the same way.

I'm going to be highly
upset if the rain holds out. I had tickets for today but gave them away.

Ohlendorf is a great guy to have follow Moose
One guy throws all soft stuff and the next guy throws all hard stuff.

Cone must read PA
He’s now making the very same point about the contrast between Moose and Ohlendorf

Honestly I'm thinking they all do.
Sometimes it seems too coincidental.

Ah.
Just asking since it looks like it applies to me too. I thought for sure it was going to pour today. Oh well.

Hey dude...
Please do me a favor and keep the large images down to a minimum. Smaller images are preferable.

what's the size range?

No size range preference
Just use common sense. I post images from time to time as well, but it’s better for everyone else that they don’t take up half the page.

Joba fist pump
I don’t see why M &MD and others make such a big deal about the emotion Joba shows on the mound. It’s such a waste of time to reflect on such trivial matters. I heard briefly the other day that one of those idiots said something to the effect that Joba needs to be more like Mo with his emotions.
It’s so stupid. Joba is not the same person as Mo. What works for Mo may not work for others.
I couldn’t care less if K-Rod, Papelbon, or Zambrano does it against the Yanks.
The best way to stop opposing pitchers from doing it against your team is to hit them.

The only time I listen to them
is when they have a decent guest. That’s about it.

I actually like them.
Although when it comes to subjects like this, they must discuss it in detail because the fans make it the topic of discussion.

There goes Abreu and the wall again.
Someone from the crowd was yelling “Abreu you suck! Why are you afraid of the wall!” so loud you could hear it in the broadcast. Pretty funny.

Abreu
I don’t recall another outfielder having so much trouble with catching a ball close to the wall. It’s astounding to me.

All wins are good wins
But this was very promising.
Giambi and Cano hit. We need them to hit.
Ohlendorf, Joba and Mo slam the door and get Moose the win.
Another start by Moose where he got the job done.
Nice.

Joe G. give Ohley a spot in a save situation.

Cone was talking about Joe G
Wanting to follow Moose with O because of the contrast in their pitch speeds and styles. It reminded me of your thought about keeping Edwar from following Moose.
It sounded like something which Cone and Joe had spoken about.
