I’m trying to say it humbly, but it doesn’t matter what I say, it’s going to come out cocky. You just know. I woke up today and told my wife, I just have a feeling I’m going to make these guys look stupid.

Excellent.
We pissed him off. Scranton was definitely the right call. Let’s see if he can continue to make us look stupid for another couple starts, and then perhaps he’ll have his mojo ready for the bigs again. Let Igawa burn up a couple starts and hopefully IPK will be back in the rotation by June.

You're right Ian...
it did sound cocky… and not sure it’s warranted.
Maybe, just maybe he wasn’t afraid to throw strikes to AAA hitters. 23.2 IP, almost a run per inning, 20/16 BB to K… how stupid are they for sending you down?
That said, hopefully he can carry this confidence with him back to the bigs when he comes back.

Cocky is good
I want someone on the hill who believes he’s the shit—even if he isn’t. As Yogi so astutely noted, “90 percent of the game is 50 percent mental.” Much of the game is played between the ears.

I read it quickly
but it sounded like it was the batters he was looking to make look stupid.
I really don’t think a rookie is going to pronounce that he wants to make the Yankee front office look stupid. That would be bad.

Pete Abe thought it was a good quote too
The first time I read it, I thought he was talking about Cashman and Girardi. My initial reaction was “Yikes. You just made yourself look stupid.” I was relieved when I realized he was referring to the Charlotte hitters.
Hey, bxgrl. Could you drop me a quick email so I can respond to it? I wanted to discuss something with you away from these boards.

Either way,
it’s a positive sign. A man needs his mojo. He can apologize later.

Agreed
I was encouraged to read that quote from him – which is why I posted it in the first place.
The kid can pitch – we all know that. But I guess he needed a wake up call or a kick in the ass to get it together. He’ll be back with the team soon enough because everyone knows Igawa is going to be treated like a lamb to the slaughterhouse this weekend against the Tigers lineup. His following start would be against Tampa and they filleted him a couple of times last season.
My guess is that Igawa makes no more than two starts before being shipped back where he belongs.

And for the
record, I think he was talking about Bixby and others like him who said he was a wash out.
