PREGAME NOTES:

  • Yanks were 8-12 on the season without A-Rod in the starting lineup and averaged 4.1 runs per game.  Obviously, not all is ice cream and puppy dogs with this team right now, but frankly, I feel like singing.
  • Chris Britton has been sent packing to Scranton to make room for A-Rod on the roster.
  • Daniel Cabrera is a lifetime 4-6, 4.81 ERA, 1.59 WHIP in 14 starts against the Yanks - including a victory at Camden Yards on April 18.
  • Moose is a lifetime 10-6, 4.51 ERA, 1.26 WHIP in 23 starts against the Orioles, including 1-1, 6.75 ERA, 1.69 WHIP in 3 starts in 2007.
  • Yankees' career numbers vs. Cabrera can be viewed here.  Orioles career numbers vs. Moose can be viewed here.
  • In minor league news, Chad Jennings reports that Dan McCutchen has been promoted to Scranton after posting excellent numbers for the Trenton Thunder.

Let's go Moose

We need you!

Welcome back Arod! Ease back into it.

Man! 32 pitches

that error really hurts us. Bases clearing double.

Crowds are won and lost and won again, but our hearts beat for the diehards.

Jeter

What the hell is he staring down Cano for???? Make an accurate throw jackass.

Having said that, YES should give us an overhead shot so we can see where Cano was postioned and how quickly or not quickly he moved to cover the bag.

"Well, that kind of puts a damper on even a Yankees win."

They had one shot

It looked like Cano wasn’t going to get there; but to me it didn’t look like he was going to get Millar anyway or at best it would have been extremely close.

Either way, if he didn’t thow it 3 feet over Giambi’s head; it was end of inning.

maybe the MVP's return has got his intangibles rankled

Not a good inning for the Captain

That wasn’t a very good illustration of on-field leadership staring down Cano when he was the guy who didn’t make the routine throw which opened the floodgates.

And to follow that up with the DP in the bottom half of the inning doesn’t make it any easier.

OK

I think that if this doesn’t turn soon.

We need a change at Manager.

This team looks bad.

This team looks divided.

I really do not remember them being this bad this long.

Cbeck...

I’m surprised at you. Do you really think changing managers again is going to solve anything?

Gotta change something

sell the team to Mark Cuban

Plus

I do not like the team’s spirit. The thing with Jeter showing up Cano. This is bad.

I haven’t really thought about changing til this game.

Team spirit will change when they start a win streak. I’ve alway thought the whole chemistry argument is overrated. The ‘77 Bronx Zoo Yankees had bad team chemistry and still won. Same with the ‘86 Mets. Lots of degenerates on that team.

I agree that Jeter shouldn’t have done that to Cano, but hey, even the Captain is human.

I’m not even close to being ready to stick a fork in this team.

by anaconda on May 20, 2008 8:18 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I have hopes for the team.

The opera….

I am frustrated, however. This has gone on too long.

It’s time to get moving

degenerates don't necessarily make bad teammates

and frank, volatile relationships don’t always perform worse than the corporate lock-step.

"Here, if you have a milkshake, and I have a milkshake, and I have a straw. There it is, that's a straw, you see? You watching?. And my straw reaches acroooooooss the room, and starts to drink your milkshake... I... drink... your... milkshake!"-Daniel Plainview

True....

but the bottom line is basically: winning = chemistry

Teams that are winning don’t seem to have bad chemistry. It’s only teams that aren’t playing well.

At least, that’s the perception I’ve gotten over the years.

I'll agree with that

Who

would you replace Girardi with? Not that I advocate such a move at this time (maybe after the season, if we don’t make the post-season.)

by docgonzo on May 20, 2008 8:55 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I don’t care if they lose 90 games this season, I wouldn’t fire Girardi.

This organization doesn’t need a repeat of the 1980s.

by anaconda on May 20, 2008 9:01 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

well

at least i don’t have to flip back and forth between the draft lottery/Game 1 and this game.

by Clutch like Leyritz on May 20, 2008 8:12 PM EDT   0 recs

So what happened?

Did Jeter get hurt? I noticed they took him out of the game on Espn gamecast.

by MedFan on May 20, 2008 8:33 PM EDT   0 recs

Jeter was HBP on the left hand. X-Rays negative.
