News And Notes

Here are a few notes...

  • Phil Hughes is has gone to the Eye Doctor's for glasses. Apparentely he is nearsighted. No word yet on whether he would need them when he's pitching, but I somehow doubt it. I'll ask him soon.
  • Jose Veras is here at Yankee Stadium, taking the spot of Phil Hughes, who, incase some of you have been living under a rock for the past couple of days, has a cracked rib.
  • Since Monday is an off-day, the Yankees will be skipping Ian Kennedy's start. The Yankees won't need their No. 5 starter until May 10th, and the Yankees are still discussing whether or not it will be Kennedy. I'll keep you guys posted.

Hughes needs glasses while pitching

Did you watch his last game? He couldn’t even see the signs that Stewart was giving.

I definitely think he'll have to use them while pitching

With what he's earning...

why can’t he just have LASIK surgery?

Go Titans!

I wouldn't risk that if I was him

if it doesn’t work, the side effects could be career-ending. There are cases where the blurriness is worse after surgery. I would not chance it if I was a 21 year old pitcher.

And especially not

mid-season. It might be something he looks into in the offseason, depending on how blurry his vision is right now.
