A-Rod now headed to the DL
I just heard Cashman being interviewed on the YES postgame and he stated that A-Rod has been placed on the 15-day DL as a result of re-aggravating his quad over the weekend in Cleveland.
In medical terms, the MRI revealed that he has a Grade 2 quadriceps strain.
Damn. Who's next?
UPDATE:
Pete Caldera has this little nugget on the corresponding roster move:
Cashman said the Yankees (14-14) were expected to call up another pitcher, possibly reliever Chris Britton, since Hughes taxed the bullpen again. Wilson Betemit (conjunctivitis) is improved enough to begin a rehab assignment at Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre today, and he could fill A-Rod's roster spot later this week.
Chris Britton? Are you kidding me? I hope he didn't unpack his suitcase.
At this point, I don't care who they recall from Scranton as long as Girardi uses him. It makes no sense to have a fresh body sitting in the pen to simply rot while the rest of the pen not named Mo or Joba continues to get overworked.

Easy Killer,
Overworked isn’t quite the right word. Now no one would love to see Chris Britton actually get some playing time more than I would (well, Maybe Chris Britton’s mom, but that’s about it).
But the rest of the pen has allowed 72 hits and 33 walk against 58 K in 71IP. Take the two best relievers out of any other pen, and I doubt you’ll find many better.
Joe G has definitely got a pattern about who he uses when, but since he’s had to cover at least 3 innings with the pen in 7 of the last 8 games, it’s hard for me to get too worked up over it.

Soon enough....
...we’ll see some more call-ups from Scranton, but this time they’ll be starters. I say we try both Rasner and Igawa in place of Hughes and Kennedy. It can’t hurt a few turns through the rotation. Then when they’re called back up, they’ll find that determination to impress they seemed to have late last season when they performed so well for us.
