PREGAME NOTES:

The Yanks have clearly not hit well in recent days but that's no fault of Johnny Damon.  Over his last 6 games, Damon is hitting .462 (12 for 26), .517 OBP, 2 homers, 5 doubles, 7 RBI, 3 walks, with 8 runs scored and has raised his BA from .197 to .276.

The same can't be said for Robinson Cano, who is hitting just .114 (5 for 44) over his last 13 games and just .152 (14 for 92) on the season.  I don't know when Cano is going to find his stroke, but when he does, he's going to go on an offensive rampage for several weeks.  It's just a matter of when.

Chien-Ming Wang is a lifetime 2-1, 3.72 ERA in 3 starts against the Tribe during the regular season.

C.C. Sabathia is a lifetime 1-7, 7.13 ERA in 8 starts against the Yanks during the regular season but has not faced them since Sept of 2004.  Clearly, he is not the same pitcher he was back then.

Yanks' career numbers vs. Sabathia can be viewed here.  Tribe career numbers vs. Wang can be viewed here.

Duncan

has to do a better job than that. I’m not crazy about today’s lineup.

should have been Posada in that spot, but he was a late scratch.

Cmon Wang

He can be so frustrating when he can’t find the zone.

Thnks Ump

I’m hoping the Yanks get some of the home field calls that have gone against them on the road this year.

Hopefully no one claims Moeller.

it's serious

they think it’s a tear and if he needs surgery, it’s the end of his season.

I'd love an out

8th inning

I’m sure with a little luck and/or whatever someone could have recorded the three outs Joba just recorded, thus preserving Wang’s gem and getting the ball to Mo.

But it sure as hell wouldn’t have looked that easy.

maybe it's time

wang started getting credit for being a great pitcher. how many years in a row is he going to have to do this before he gets his due?

no kidding

now that he’s throwing strikes and is 5-0 in April, it might happen.

Michael Kay criticized Sabathia for the excitement

saying Joba gets crap for a little fist pump.

We agree.
