PREGAME NOTES:

Pete Abe is reporting that Joba Chamberlain tweaked his hamstring the other night in Chicago and was not available yesterday.  Girardi says, however, that it does not impact how Joba will be used.  I guess that remains to be seen, but no matter how you cut it, this ain't good news at all.

Shelly Duncan is back with the club and in the lineup today batting sixth.  That's a very different lineup today against the left hander and an insanely loaded bench if needed in the late innings (Matsui, Abreu, Cano, and Posada).

In 15 games at Scranton, Duncan hit .309, 6 HR, 6 doubles, and 17 RBI.  To make room for Duncan on the roster, the Yanks sent Billy Traber down to Scranton.  Pretty tough to hold a job when you're a lefty specialist and you can't get lefties out (.375, 6 for 16).

Ian Kennedy makes his first career start against the Tribe.

Jeremy Sowers makes his 2008 debut (which explains why there's no data widget for him) and is a lifetime 1-1,  7.45 ERA in 2 starts against the Yanks.  Yanks' career numbers vs. Sowers can be viewed here.

All Right

Here’s where Kennedy turns around his season.

You can't turn around a season

when you have no fastball.

Not bad

Can’t fault Kennedy for the Martinez hit and did get ahead of every hitter except Hafner.

missed sign?

I couldn't hear you over the

roar of the cleveland crowd as another run scores. I think he’ll turn his season around at Scranton

Are you sure

You’re not projecting and maybe it’s Andy Roth you hate? By the way, love your Sleestak photo. Not sure why I haven’t noticed it in the past.

Excellent!

There’s a great tune by Nerf Herder called She’s a Sleestak. Quite entertaining.

I'll check it out

Will Ferrell’s making a Land Of The Lost movie, I’m looking forward to watching.

That has great potential

Hopefully he’s done making the same sports movie over and over. Getting back to the game, it continues to go pooly.

late to the party, but

Great bit of trivia: On the TV show Land of the Lost, future basketball goon Bill Laimbeer played a Sleestak.

Hah,

nice play Johnny!

This was

a relatively good outing by Ike.

I don’t care if some cranky senile old bastard with a day pass from the home says otherwise. Ike has had a strong game.

Were you all on day passes from the home?

I’ll hold down the fort until they let you out again.

Go figure

Hawkins and Farnsworth walks the deadoff man in three consecutive innings and the Tribe doesn’t score.

That ain’t gonna happen very often.

by anaconda on Apr 26, 2008 7:02 PM EDT   0 recs

I like deadoff

The World Champion New York Football Giants did well in the draft.

That’s all I care about.

deadoff is probably more like it

I’m a Dolphins fan myself. I didn’t admit that too often last season.

by anaconda on Apr 26, 2008 7:12 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

well the 72 Dolphins are still perfect

there’s something. you’re welcome. :)

Indeed

I certainly didn’t want to see the Pats go undefeated (although, technically they did), but I’ve always liked Brady since I’m also a huge Michigan fan.

Well....

I wouldn’t like him had he played college ball anywhere else. But, I saw Brady play up in Ann Arbor several times and I always root for those guys in the NFL.

by anaconda on Apr 26, 2008 7:23 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I repeat

UGH

There’s no excuse for that.

Try being a Raider fan

with Count Chocula as an owner

by Rusty23 on Apr 26, 2008 7:14 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Raider games are completely crazy

I don’t even like driving on the highway on a Raider game day. But it’s right near the stupid airport.

I've only been to a few games

But they’re a real blast when they win…which hasn’t been often. Some of the fans are Jag-bags though.

oh I was out there for the Super Bowl loss in 2002

that was a fun night

Ohlendorf

How’s that man-crush Anaconda?

by Rusty23 on Apr 26, 2008 7:25 PM EDT   0 recs

Ohlendorf is worn out

I’m still firmly on his bandwagon.

Bruney is going to be missed.

The bullpen looks atrocious outside of Joba and Mo. What an ugly game today. Offense is still struggling too.

by bronxbound on Apr 26, 2008 7:32 PM EDT   0 recs

I blame it on the offense

the bullpen didn’t suck as much as I thought it would.

Kennedy Still Shaky

Kennedy looked better but his control is still not where he needs it to be. He only threw 60 of 105 pitches for strikes. When he gets his command back he will be ready to dominate at this level!
