PHIL HUGHES, TIM LINCECUM
I watched Lincecum last night and he may very well have the best stuff in baseball. The fact that these idiot GM's shied away from him in the draft because of his lack of size and ignored his out of this world stuff and talent is absolutely amazing. If Lincecum was wearing Pinstripes he would be getting equally or more press than Joba. I've never quite seen a curveball like his. It has an incredilbly quick and sharp vertical drop. Lincecum and Hughes are in two different universes. Lincecum has the stuff and ability to be an elite pitcher. If you think you can say that about Hughes then you are wearing Yankee blinders. I would trade Hughes and Kennedy in a heart beat for Lincecum.

Why bother with this tripe?
The Giants are not trading Tim Lincecum. And the Yankees aren’t trading Hughes or Kennedy.
I don’t see the point in this post at all.

I was just thinking this:
“well since he’s available and you’re the GM, go ahead and make the trade!”
which is the same response as yours.
Seriously.

Are you going to do this...
with EVERY pitcher this year? Anytime someone pitches well it’s an automatic comparison to Hughes? You’re going to get carpal tunnel if that’s your plan. Seems like a colossal waste of time. There are pitchers currently in MLB that are better than Hughes. Not only do we get it, but I don’t think anyone is disputing that.
On another note, you know who I would trade Hughes for, in a heartbeat? Superman. Heck of a fastball.

You're GETTING IT!!!!
He’s going to do it every time we lose but he will just happen to “miss” the games we win. All we can do is clap our hands over our ears and go LALALALALA, I can’t heeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrr you!!!
The great part about this post is that it is, as anaconda pointed out, so freaking pointless. I’d like to trade for spidey myself. I think that a good web over Manny Ramirez would be awesome.
Welcome to PA. :)

Sadly the answer is "yes"
You pretty much hit it on the head … “colossal waste of time”. That moniker fits him to a tee. I think we all collectively wish he would go away.

uhh
Lincecum is turning 25 in June, Hughes Turns 23 in June. Lincecum played three years of college ball. He plays in the West, in the National League.
Phil Hughes came straight out of High School and plays on the biggest spot light you can.
With the experience and location difference, I would hope Lincecum is a little better at this date and time.

Actually a strong point.
College pitchers—especially those attending good baseball schools (U of Washington is a good baseball school), benefit without the pressure of professional ball. High school players take alittle more time to season, and shouldn’t be rushed.

well he can't write well thought-out posts
with Nurse Rachet chasing him to give him his meds. He does what he can in the time he has.

"The fact that these idiot GM's...
...shied away from him in the draft because of his lack of size and ignored his out of this world stuff and talent is absolutely amazing. “
But, since Lincecum was picked 10th overall says that only 9 GM’s were idiots. But, were they really dumb? Let’s examine. Of the 9 picks ahead of Lincecum, four have already reached the majors including Luke Hochevar (#1 overall), widely considered the best available pitcher. Third overall was Evan Longoria, (Tampa’s starting 3rd baseman) 5th overall was Brandon Morrow, currently in the Mariners bullpen, and 6th overall, Andrew Miller, who is the Marlins rotation.
Two other college pitchers picked ahead of Lincecum, Greg Reynolds at #2 and Brad Linclon at #4, had surgery last season and are expected to pitch this season. The Reds took the best college hitter in Texas’ Drew Stubbs at #8 and the Orioles (at #9) again picked the best available high school hitter in Billy Rowell. The Orioles took young sluggers for three straight seasons so it appears they have a plan to boost their offense. And the Dodgers took the best HS pitcher available, Clayton Kershaw, who has dominated every level thus far and should have made the Dodgers rotation this spring.
So, I guess you can say the Rockies and Pirates draft guys are idiots in that they should have seen the future injuries their pitchers would suffer. In fact, the Rockies pitcher, Greg Reynolds from Stanford was tearing it up in Double A last year before he tore up his shoulder.
Incidentally, on May 12, 2006, a month before the draft, Stanford beat Washington 5-0 behind a CG shutout by Reynolds. Oh, and the guy who took the loss, giving up 10 hits a 4 runs in 7 innings – none other than Tim Lincecum.
Maybe that was why Reynolds was drafted higher.
So, lets wait a few years before everyone jumps on the hot pitcher bandwagon.
Meanwhile, lucky for the Yanks they had to wait many picks before they got their chance to draft Ian Kennedy (who lost to Lincecum on Aril 21, 2006) and Joba Chamberlain. Or Damon Oppenheimer would have been considered and idiot.

UPDATE!!!
Greg Reynolds of the Colorado Rockies, the former second pick overall in the 2006 draft and was picked 8 spots ahead of Tim Lincecum, finally made his major league debut today – and got the loss in a 6-1 defeat to the San Diego Padres.
Reynolds, who is coming back from shoulder surgery, lasted 5.2 innings giving up 4 runs on 6 hits. He had a 3 hitter (solo HR) entering the sixth.
Not as good as Lincecum, but the 22 year old Reynolds will stay in the Rockies rotation.
Unlike the Yankees, the Rockies will stick with their young 2006 draft pick.
