Pete Abe reports that Shelley Duncan was not penciled in the Scranton lineup tonight and is headed to Cleveland.

Yanks have won 8 straight regular-season games against the Tribe, including a 6 game sweep of the season series a year ago.  Let's not even mention the ALDS or those damn midges.

Andy Pettitte is a lifetime 6-7, 4.50 ERA against the Tribe, including 1-0, 2.45 ERA in one start in 2007.

Paul Byrd is a lifetime 1-4, 4.44 ERA in 8 starts against the Yanks, including 0-3, 8.53 ERA in his last 3 starts.  Byrd has not beaten the Yanks during the regular season since June of '99.

Yanks' career numbers vs. Byrd can be viewed here.  Tribe career numbers vs. Pettitte can be viewed here.

What the heck?

Why is white shadow on the yes network not the game? are we in rain delay?

Crowds are won and lost and won again, but our hearts beat for the diehards.

how do you know these things?

Because it's not on YES

and it’s Friday night. Last season, a lot of Friday night games were on My9.

I can’t watch the Yanks broadcast, so I’m currently watching it on the Tribe’s local network.

by anaconda on Apr 25, 2008 7:18 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

what's wrong with the white shadow?

:) I love that kid named Salami.

The question is

Why isn’t the White Shadow on more often? I loved that show when I was a kid. And Salami rocked.

I would be happy

if I never saw that midge footage again. And Torre was an idiot. Joba was a rookie. For once I side with Kay. Joba was a kid and Torre was an experienced manager.

I did a lot of screaming and yellling at the TV that night

My neighbors probably thought I had Tourette Syndrome.

by anaconda on Apr 25, 2008 7:22 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

seriously

I thought Torre had to be dead in the dugout to not delay the game. A 4 year old would have known how to manage that with a rookie on the mound and some unbelievable crap descending on the ballpark.

Well, Giambi owes us one now.

What was that old line by Stengel about how he hated guys who drove in three runs but let in two with their glove?

by mrljdavid on Apr 25, 2008 7:29 PM EDT   0 recs

I keep telling myself that Giambi will start hitting sooner or later. But, as soon as he does, he’ll go down with another leg or foot injury.

I'd love to

see the Rock n Roll Hall of fame but that would mean a trip to Cleveland. And that I couldn’t take.

Funny thing about the R&R Hall

I had planned to propose to my [then] girlfriend a couple of years ago at that place. We ended up breaking up a few weeks before the trip.

by anaconda on Apr 25, 2008 7:38 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

whoever did the breaking up

probably did to get out of going to cleveland.

Have all you guys been to Cooperstown? That would be a great PA off-season field trip.

Great town.

I went with an ex once – stayed at a bed and breakfast behind the outfield fence.

That would be a very cool trip.

by mrljdavid on Apr 25, 2008 7:44 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Nah, she was the quintessential rock and roll girl and suggested we go to the Hall. She broke it off.

Anyways, never been to Cooperstown. I’ll make it out there one day before I die.

by anaconda on Apr 25, 2008 7:46 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

you have to go

it’s really a “more than once” place. I haven’t been in a few years. Time to go again soon!

Just the sound of the game – no announcers. Maybe they can keep it like this the rest of the game. Am I the only one not hearing the booth?

It’s fantastic! Maybe it’s a DirecTV thing.

What channel are you watching?

I’m watching DirecTV as well. I’m getting audio here.

by anaconda on Apr 25, 2008 7:56 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

HD issue

I’m watching the HD version of 722 which is 722-1. I tell ya, with a 60 inch screen, this is like heaven!

by Rusty23 on Apr 25, 2008 8:03 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Sadly...

I’ve never seen a Yankee game in HD. I do have running water, though.

by anaconda on Apr 25, 2008 8:02 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

It horribly spoils a person.

Watching non-HD is really tough.

by Rusty23 on Apr 25, 2008 8:06 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I've watched exactly one sporting event in HD

It happened to be the Ohio State/Michigan game last November. Unfortunately, my team lost.

by anaconda on Apr 25, 2008 8:09 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

It spoils guys

women can watch non HD and not be upset about it. Or have to run out and get HD.

by bxgrl1 on Apr 25, 2008 8:33 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Not sure that's true.

My wife can watch the HD Yankee broadcast 4, sometimes 5 minutes longer than the regular broadcast before she goes to the another TV to watch any crime show with voice-overs by Bill Kurtis.

by Rusty23 on Apr 25, 2008 8:40 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I have no idea what that means

but most women I know think the HD v. non-HD is a stupid boy thing.

if there's a good thing about froth

it’s that he doesn’t usually show up here during game threads.

He waits until the next day to froth about something completely irrelevant such as why that moron Cashman doesn’t trade Hughes and Kennedy for Lincecum.

It’s like he has days they let him out of the home but they don’t really let him out at night.
