Prediction
The Yanks were planning to use tomorrow’s off day to flip-flop Pettitte and IPK, to separate Hughes and IPK. If Pettitte isn’t on today, we’ll see a roster move- either sending IPK down, or sending down one of the relievers for Rasner or Igawa.

What reliever would they send down?
Two weeks ago, I would have said Ohlendorf is the most likely arm to be sent down. But it now seems as if Girardi is gaining confidence in Ohlendorf each day.
He would be the most likely choice, but my guess is Girardi would rather keep Ohlendorf than promote Raner or Igawa.

Looking over the roster
You’re right. You’d have to keep Shelley down and bring up another pitcher.
I’d rather send IPK down than do that. But there’s nobody down there I’d rather have on the team.

It's not that I don't
like to talk about.
It is a problem, but it shouldn’t be the focus. If the batters are avoiding making outs, they’re doing their jobs. Now if one or two hitters are going 0-fer (Giambi, Damon, Cano), then it’s on the manager to reshuffle the lineup, rest guys, mix things up somehow.

but, the umps can exercise some self control too now and then. Youve got people paying money to see this guy and now the Ump has decided that manny has insulted him and thrown him out. And, he was dead on, the ball he was called out on was not a strike. Just wish the umps would take themselves a little less seriously. Why?
My suggestion is he doesn’t play at all. An occasional walk doesn’t really help this team. I don’t care about the financial aspect of this, it’s about winning. So, mid-season we look at Giambi and his stats are similar. Do we cut bait at that point?

I don’t see Giambi getting DFA’d. He makes too much money and he can be productive. It’s just a matter of time before he gets hot.
I think people see the Thomas release and think Cashman should do the same thing. But Thomas is owed $9M and Giambi is owed $20M. Plus, Thomas made a big stink about getting benched last night and Riccardi may have seen the writing on the wall and didn’t want him to become a distraction.
