Prediction
The Yanks were planning to use tomorrow’s off day to flip-flop Pettitte and IPK, to separate Hughes and IPK. If Pettitte isn’t on today, we’ll see a roster move- either sending IPK down, or sending down one of the relievers for Rasner or Igawa.
"Have faith in the Yankees, my son. Think of the great DiMaggio."
What reliever would they send down?
Two weeks ago, I would have said Ohlendorf is the most likely arm to be sent down. But it now seems as if Girardi is gaining confidence in Ohlendorf each day.
He would be the most likely choice, but my guess is Girardi would rather keep Ohlendorf than promote Raner or Igawa.
Looking over the roster
You’re right. You’d have to keep Shelley down and bring up another pitcher.
I’d rather send IPK down than do that. But there’s nobody down there I’d rather have on the team.

yeah
no business swinging at that last one

i know you don’t like about runners LOB, especially RISP.. but it is frustrating to watch this year

* don't like [to talk] about...
You don't realize how easy this game is until you get up in that broadcasting booth. -Mickey Mantle
I look at it this way....
This team was in far worse shape last season. And they haven’t had their everyday lineup healthy since Posada went down the first week.
it was at this point they went into the tank
last year…
now i agree with you, but a win today going into the off day goes a long way..

It's not that I don't
like to talk about.
It is a problem, but it shouldn’t be the focus. If the batters are avoiding making outs, they’re doing their jobs. Now if one or two hitters are going 0-fer (Giambi, Damon, Cano), then it’s on the manager to reshuffle the lineup, rest guys, mix things up somehow.
"Have faith in the Yankees, my son. Think of the great DiMaggio."
AROD
had a hit with RISP last night, yet the yanks were shut out. If he were to hit a double with jeter on first (i.e. not in scoring position) he’d probably get an RBI.
yeah...and that's what's been happening
i mean the yanks aren’t 6 games under .500, so it’s not the biigest deal in the world.. but they could be multiple games over .500 at this point with some timely hits..

damn matsui and robby were both
right on those pitches… both to the deepest part

Listening to Michael Kay
is so nauseating. He repeats the same damn thing over and over and over again.
It’s bad enough hearing him say it the first time.
love it

34 pitches thru 4..
good stuff

I was going to say that.
Pettite looks fantastic. He’s just cruising. Hughes and IPK should take notes on this. It will be on the test.
Manny tossed
As a yankee fan obviously I’m happy whenever he is not playing but, I am so tired of seeing guys get tossed for arguing with umps.
You can't argue
balls and strikes. If you don’t have that much self-control, you deserve to get tossed.
"Have faith in the Yankees, my son. Think of the great DiMaggio."
Ortiz is still hitting
his weight – when he was in third grade.
Texas adds 3 more
on a Bradley homer.
5-0 Rangers
Manny should have been tossed against the Yanks
last week. But the ump let him bark and didn’t do anything.
I know you cant
but, the umps can exercise some self control too now and then. Youve got people paying money to see this guy and now the Ump has decided that manny has insulted him and thrown him out. And, he was dead on, the ball he was called out on was not a strike. Just wish the umps would take themselves a little less seriously. Im not here to pay respect to the umps, Im here to watch great baseball players.
Maybe he called the ump that special word
“Crash must have called the ump a cocksucker.”
No biggie
A non-no wasn’t happening today anyways.
I’m more concerned about Pettitte going 7.0 IP and handing the ball to Job and Mo to nail it down.
True, but it would be nice.
Isn’t that the magic of baseball? In any given game, something odd or unique can happen.
On the radio
They’re saying that Moeller would have to clear waivers to go back to AAA and probably wouldn’t.
Anybody know which teams are looking for a backup?

And
I can’t wait for the O’s to trade Roberts to the Cubs.
"Have faith in the Yankees, my son. Think of the great DiMaggio."
They have the players
on the team and in the minors to take over at 1st. How long does the team wait to make a change? We know what Giambi has been capable of doing in the past but alas, he seems to be toast at this point.
We'd need to trade
one of the left fielders before that would happen.
"Have faith in the Yankees, my son. Think of the great DiMaggio."
Why?
My suggestion is he doesn’t play at all. An occasional walk doesn’t really help this team. I don’t care about the financial aspect of this, it’s about winning. So, mid-season we look at Giambi and his stats are similar. Do we cut bait at that point?
I know that
But the question is whether or not you can get more production out of another player(s). Right now, he adds just about nothing to the line-up. How long do we wait?
Until the end of the season
Right now, a lot of guys are adding very little to the lineup. I agree with anaconda, its only a matter of time before he heats it up a little. Im not saying we’ll be seeing MVP Giambi but he’ll get his hits.
I really...
Want to eat crow on this and hope you’re right. I just don’t think it’s going to happen. It’s a long season but as we saw last year, a few losses can mean a lot in the end.
I don’t see Giambi getting DFA’d. He makes too much money and he can be productive. It’s just a matter of time before he gets hot.
I think people see the Thomas release and think Cashman should do the same thing. But Thomas is owed $9M and Giambi is owed $20M. Plus, Thomas made a big stink about getting benched last night and Riccardi may have seen the writing on the wall and didn’t want him to become a distraction.
Cause you're not going
to cut Giambi, and while you might bench him for a couple of games, his eye and his bat will be in the lineup either way.
"Have faith in the Yankees, my son. Think of the great DiMaggio."
atta boy andy!!

If we could put them back
in the same booth, the choice of which broadcast to listen to would be infinitely simpler.

you beat me to it
i was gonna say kay “sterlinged” it

I sure hope (for her sake)
that it doesn’t take 6 days to deliver the kid. I would think they would take advantage of the situation and induce labor sometime this week if it doesn’t happen naturally.
Come on
Yeesh. Can you imagine what it would be like to play a series without any rain?
"Have faith in the Yankees, my son. Think of the great DiMaggio."
They can't call the game
until the end of the home half, right?
"Have faith in the Yankees, my son. Think of the great DiMaggio."
Ugh, and the sox have tied the game 5-5,
and have the bases loaded…
Joba
is definitely not coming back. It’s got to be Bruney, right?
"Have faith in the Yankees, my son. Think of the great DiMaggio."
It is a save situation
but I just don’t see Girardi doing that for a game against the O’s. But it’s not a bad thought.
"Have faith in the Yankees, my son. Think of the great DiMaggio."
No, I don;t think they wanted him to warm up again
after sitting for 30 minutes. Girardi is being extra careful with the youngsters as a result of his experience in Florida.
ha I meant he relinquished
his first run because he wasnt pitching hard enough. doing my best andyroth impression
What a difference
a year makes. Last year it was Posada and no one else catching. I know these guys won’t continue to hit like this but it’s nice not to worry about the position.
I let Mo
pitch anyway (if the rain holds off).
"Have faith in the Yankees, my son. Think of the great DiMaggio."
The way Moeller is playing
the Yanks are absolutely not going to put him on waivers until they are absolutely sure that both Posada and Molina are 100% healthy.
I think they are going to keep Moeller until at least the end of the month.
I wouldn't mind
leaving Shelley in AAA, playing Posada at first more, and rotating Jorge and Jose at catcher, with Moeller as the backup.
"Have faith in the Yankees, my son. Think of the great DiMaggio."
I bet
they don’t put him on waivers either way; somebody will snatch him up. Trade him for a minor leaguer.
"Have faith in the Yankees, my son. Think of the great DiMaggio."
That's a need trick
Call two rain delays, just as the opponent’s two pitchers are taking the mound.
We should remember that the next time Boston is in town.
"Have faith in the Yankees, my son. Think of the great DiMaggio."
nah
i think you were right the first time

From Pete Abe:
Chad Moeller is 7 for 20 since he joined the Yankees with three extra-base hits. The Nationals liked Wil Nieves more in spring training. Go figure baseball.

I see they’ve got the favorite blogs figured out on Dashboard. Good stuff.

I don't think it's going to stay that way
They want to separate divisions too. An email was sent out the other day addressing the dashboard. They are open to suggestions if you have a brilliant idea.
How hard would it be
