Game #19 - New York Yankees @ Baltimore Orioles
New York Yankees at Baltimore Orioles, Apr 19, 2008 7:05 PM EDT
New
York Yankees

Johnny
Damon, LF
Melky Cabrera, CF
Derek Jeter, SS
Álex Rodríguez, DH
Jorge Posada, 1B
Hideki Matsui, RF
Morgan Ensberg, 3B
Robinson Cano, 2B
Jose Molina, C
Baltimore Orioles

Brian Roberts, 2B
Lots of lineup changes against the left-hander, most notably, Jose Molina returns behind the plate and Jorge Posada gets the start at 1B. According to Pete Abe, Posada may catch tomorrow or Tuesday in the Windy City. My guess is Tuesday with the day off on Monday. Here's a very disturbing tidbit; Jason Giambi is 3 for 3 with 2 home runs and a double against Mike Timlin of the Red Sox this season and a NL pitcher-esque 2 for 40 (.050) with a double against everyone else. Yikes. Nothing has been confirmed yet, but Edwar Ramirez appears headed back to Scranton now that Chamberlain has returned. Ian Kennedy makes his first career start against the Orioles. Brian Burres is a lifetime 1-2, 4.64 ERA in 7 games (3 starts) against the Bombers. Yanks'
career numbers vs. Burres can be viewed here.
Melvin Mora, 3B
Nick Markakis, RF
Kevin Millar, 1B
Luke Scott, LF
Aubrey Huff, DH
Adam Jones, CF
Ramon Hernandez, C
Brandon Fahey, SS

You don't see that everyday....
Jeter doesn’t score from 3B on a base hit by A-Rod.
Not Jeter’s fault, but not something you see very often.
I love the
“how long will the yankees wait before making a trade” discussion. They passed on Johan; there will be no trades.
Agreed
The front office knew there was going to be growing pains are part of the developmental process.. They are not going to push the panic button on April 19th.
This team is in far better shape right now than they were a year ago with Igawa, Karstens, Rasner, DeSalvo, Clippard making starts for this club in April and May.
Good suggestion
About time you came to your senses. Could’ve had Johan if they were willing to part with this piece of crap Kennedy
I'll say it again
You don’t win titles when “Clowns In Pinstripes.” are running the show. Don’t forget when it looked like Arod was never coming back Hank said he wouldn’t trade Kennedy for Miguel Cabrera. How pathetic this guy is. All he knows how to do is shoot off his extremely ignorant mouth and inhale cancer sticks.
why would you trade
a highly touted pitching prospect to try and replace arod with a guy who couldn’t carry his jock strap?
You wouldn't have been happy replacing Arod with one of the best
young hitters in the game? And you don’t get it. Kennedy was all hype. This guy is nothing.
Is he better than arod?
No. So why give up both money and talent for a lesser player when they can just give up money for a-rod? It was all part of the negotiation process. They had to say they werent going to re-sign him if he opted out; It was the only way to have a chance of saving the Texas money.
As far as Kennedy is concerned, I hope to god you are never appointed as a proxy for someone hooked up to a respirator.

Well
The Scranton Yankees’ offense is struggling too. But they got good pitching and a couple of lucky breaks, so they won 1-0.
"Have faith in the Yankees, my son. Think of the great DiMaggio."
At what point should
we start to discuss sending IPK down to the minors to work out his problems? It would be a shame if his development was hindered because he was rushed to the major leagues after 100 innings of minor league ball. The only problem is the 1-2 punch of Scranton right now is Kei Igawa and Jeff Karstens. Of course both of them are posting whips of about .8 so maybe they could be more effective than last year. At the very least maybe we should revisit the idea of having a long man in the pen. With how our starters are performing a long man would certainly get regular work.
Crowds are won and lost and won again, but our hearts beat for the diehards.

Considering the alternatives (ie: Rasner and Igawa)...
I think Kennedy is going to stay in the rotation so he can work this thing out. Well, at least for the time being.
Tomorrow
is another day!
