I know, I know. This is juvenile. But it's still hilarious.
Thanks to NYY Stadium Insider for supplying the video and David Cone for giving us Yankee fans a laugh on an otherwise dismal night of baseball.

Juvenile
yet entertaining.
It might have thrown IPK off early, but he settled down pretty well. Threw a lot of pitches though.

Kennedy still has problems getting going in his first inning of work. He had those kinds of problems in ST, his first start, and again last night.
I remember Hughes had a very similar problem in August last season.

Cone had a point dispite putting his foot in his mouth
He, as a starting pitcher didn't like the creative strategy. He didn't like the mental aspect.
Although the remark strikes me as oversensitive, like you'd get from Mussina, I think we ought to listen very carefully to him. As a pitcher at this level he has a lot of insight.
Time like this make me miss Kaat.

For sure
I'm not counting anything against Kennedy for last night's outing. For what it's worth, he was put in a tough situation and he did okay. He looked good once he settled down.
But the issue of Kennedy "settling down" in his first inning of work was an issue in ST as well as his first outing. It has been a topic of discussion several times by the YES crew.
It's not my intention to knock Kennedy, but it's part of his developmental process and something he'll have to figure out. He admitted himself that he's a bit too energetic in the 1st inning and he and Eiland are trying to figure out ways to tone it down.
I'm completely with you on Jim Kaat. He was the best baseball analyst the Yanks had when he retired and would still be the best now. I had to poke fun at Cone for last night's embarrassing line, but I love having him in the booth. I thought he was a great addition when he signed on because he's smart and knows what he's talking about.
Here's my post about the move back in January.
Personally, I like every member of the YES crew for the exception of Kay.

Well whatever he did before
the game yesterday didn't help him with his first inning jitters. (snicker snicker)

Bad enough
Cone says IPK was "jerked off," but he immediately follows with "we're going to pull you." The sick bastard!
