The Missing Piece?

Newsday:

Bob Sheppard, the Yankees' venerable public address announcer, recently signed a two-year extension. While he probably won't be ready for Opening Day -- last October's case of pneumonia took a great deal out of him -- Shepherd, believed to be 97, should return about two months into the regular season.

This can only be good news.

Unbelievable
That guy is a legitimate fossil. 97? The only other 97 year-old I know who is still really at it is John McCain's mother.

Just once
in my life I'd like to hear him announce me into a ballgame. If that happened, I could die a happy man.

Gone for Good?
It doesn't look like Bob is going to return.  Too bad, I read in a few of his most recent interviews that he really wanted to open up the new stadium.

Prayers are with him and his family.
