Joe Girardi as a News Roundup
So far he's been everything we'd hope for. He's said the right things about the young guns in the bullpen and the rotation, and he's got the veterans working hard, and has the veterans showing up in shape and ready to play.
Tomorrow is a big day; Girardi gets to address his team for the first time.
This is the spot when Torre would talk about the regular season as the 'first step' toward a championship. I'll be interested to hear what Joe G has to say. I bet the word competition comes up at least once.

Excellent
I am pumped up. Time to turn the page and sit back for the dawning of a new era. I even have to profess fond feelings for a few unsung heros:
Mike Mussina: Sounding like a future pitching coach and a guy who might finally become a beloved Yankee not for his pitching, but for his mentoring.
Hank Steinbrenner: So relentless in his gung ho, over-the-top boosterism that he may ultimately come off as the perfect antidote for an off-season of steroids, santana and froth.
Jason Giambi: Clearly on the downswing of his career, but watch for a big bounceback as he's playing for a new contract. 100 RBIs: You heard it here.
Johnny Damon: Fat? Not! Bounceback here as well.
And of course:
Joe Girardi: According to some, he's one of the greatest of all times. Thank God that's settled! (No pressure, though, Joe; you've had a week so far, so the training wheels come off NOW!)
Let's keep stretching and start swinging. Time for a big year, and the evil empire in Boston needs a little MFY magic.
Who's with me!?!
