I hope Bernie keeps playing for as long as it makes him happy. I don't think he can "embarrass" himself or "tarnish" his legacy in any way- nobody holds Yogi's 9 ABs as a Met against his place among the greatest catchers in history.
And when a 40 year-old man is willing to play Winter Ball for a chance to play in an unpaid international baseball tournament, you know that it's truly for love of the game.
But I hope Bernie finally files those retirement papers. Bernie Williams Day (plaque, no retired number- a la Red Ruffing and Superchief Reynolds) should be the first marquee event of the New Yankee Stadium
