Thinking About Arbitration

All I kept cycling back to collusion...

  • The commish had a meeting with the GMs where he stressed the downturning economy and fiscal responsibility.
  • Practically no one got offered arbitration.
  • The Hot Stove has been ice cold for weeks.

I had a whole post written about it, and then I looked up the numbers. There were 66 type As and Bs, 24 offered arbitration (15A/9B). That's 36% compared to 43% (17/40) last year. Not nearly as huge a drop as I'd expect This is only the second year we've operated on the current CBA. I probably should have controlled and removed the likely retirees from the numerator and denominator or tabulating the As and Bs separately, but I'm tired tonight (12 school days until Christmas!).
