Manny question...
given that many of the PA readers are more knowlegeable than I, I was wondering what would be wrong with giving Manny an incentive driven contract (if he would accept)? No doubt he can hit, no doubt we need some "bop" in the lineup, and many question whether he will give up midseason etc...so what is wrong with a contract that his salary is based on his stats, how far they go in the playoffs etc...this would seemingly keep him interested in playing hard, not to mention going against the Red Sox potentially 18+ times. Any insight would be appreciated.

No
He doesn’t need incentives to perform offensively. The dude rakes no matter how he behaves. It’s his clubhouse behavior, his carelessness in the field, and his desire to play at all that makes him persona non grata.

And he wouldn’t Accept incentive when he can get guaranteed offers.
