But he also added the San Francisco Giants as a possible destination, and alluded again to the potential bonanza represented by the New York Yankees.
"He's not a total free agent like (CC) Sabathia was," Axelrod said of Peavy. "So maybe he'd only get $150 million. ... (But) Jake's a guy who's not going to be intimidated by New York."
I think I'd offer 5 years and $80 million to AJ Burnett rather than send Cano and IPK to the Padres for Peavy.

Peavy ...
I really like him—but not for Cano. Call me crazy, but I have a feeling Cano is going to have a monster season after being embarrassed last season. Trading him now to the Padres is selling low. … I wouldn’t do it unless we had a sure thing standing in the wings.

I'm all for ...
acquiring pitching, but not at the expense of gutting our young talent at the MLB level. If we can’t land Peavy for IPK and perhaps another arm and some cash, let him alone.

exactly
we can’t give up on cano yet, god it was one bad season. I think peavy is a creation of playing in petco for years in the horrible NL west.
He couldn’t handle playing in NY.
