Locking in the Back of the Rotation
Andy wants a one-year deal in NY.
While you could make a convincing argument not to bring back a 37 year-old former PED user with a career high Batting Average Against (.288), I don't see any harm in tossing $8-10M at 200 innings of league average ERA. Pettitte has made 33+ starts the last 4 years running: he's like the anti-Burnett.

I agree, Pettitte should return
He’s been a very stable starter for us and his performance isn’t that bad. His consistency could be very appreciated in the rotation as our 5th starter.

Pettitte
Look at his advanced stats. Second lowest LD% of any AL starter (Halladay), third highest GB% (Halladay and Felix), put fewer balls into play and suffered from terrible luck. He’s a good pitcher, despite what his stats suggested. He was about eight and a half runs better than the average pitcher, and had a tRA+ of 108. He pitches a ton of innings, there was something on NoMaas a while back about how he pitched more innings than anyone but two or three other pitchers over the past three years. I’d love to have him back.
