Trades to be Thankful For
This Thanksgiving I want to open a thread to commemorate the trades that we loved, or the rumors that we would have hated and are thankful never became trades.
I have two trades: one I am eternally thankful for, and one I am equally as thankful didnt happen.
We Made: Babe Ruth to the Yankees/ Jock Strap to the Red Sox. This will go down as the greatest trade in sports history for all time. So I am thankful to God, the Yankees, and the dumb BoSox for making this a reality.
We Avoided: Once upon a time, Joe DiMaggio was almost traded for Ted Williams in a straight swap. Although Teddy Ballgame is a great hitter, Joey D is the greatest baseball player that ever lived (in my humble opinion). Who knows what would have changed if this trade had gone through, but I am Thankful that I only have to speculate.
Please by all means make your references modern, but I just thought these two were the most important.
Happy Thanksgiving: and this year, as always, I am thankful to be a Yankee fan

Happy Thankgiving!
I will add the most important one that catapulted us to our most recent string of championships.
We made: Roberto Kelly to the Reds for Paul O’Neill.
I remember being a big fan of Roberto’s at the time, and mad at the Yankees for doing this. I knew he was declining, but I still don’t like to see my favorite Yankees go. Little did I know that in return, we would get a stallion that would give this franchise every last drop he had in the tank to win.

Gotta love trading Doc Medich to the Pirates for
Dock Ellis and a guy named Willie Randolph.

read somewhere
that Boston wanted us to throw a young catcher named Berra into the Joe D/Ted Williams deal, but we said no. not a bad decision.
