Offer to CC: "Not going to be there forever"
According to foxsports, Hal says the offer not going to be there forever. I assume they know what they are doing, but is it really a good idea to "threaten" probably the most sought after free agent? I guess they, the yankees, along with every other team, would like to get the ball rolling and that probably is not going to happen until CC signs somewhere. Well hopefully he ends up in pinstripes and I hope to see him sooner than later.

CC
I too am getting a little tired of CC .. The Yankees are giving you the biggest pay out for a pitcher ever ! . . Just take it already

We've done this before ...
I tend to agree that we shouldn’t be drawing lines in the sand. Boras isn’t a fool. He knows the deal isn’t going anywhere. What we should have done is tell Boras “talk to us last.”

Boras doesn't represent Sabathia
But he does represent almost everyone else – Manny Ramirez, Teixeira, Burnett, and Lowe.
Frankly, I don’t think this means anything because Hal was pretty vague and didn’t actually set a deadline.
Not like his idiot brother Hank last year when he gave the Twins a deadline on the Santana talks and the Yanks continued trade discussions a few weeks later anyways.

My bad
Boras doesn’t represent Burnett. I thought he did for some reason – maybe it was the opt out clause that convinced me otherwise.

Agree with Ronster
The bottom line is the Yanks need CC way more than CC needs the Yanks. They are not in any position to make demands, or draw lines in the sand.
I was watching Yankees Hot Stove last night, and Cashman seemed to have a pretty good take on it. He said something to the effect of any good agent would tell his client to wait and see what the market bears before jumping on an offer- especially when you’re the prize of the FA market. We all know of CC’s desire to play in CA… so what happens if the Angels lose out on Texeira, and they suddenly have a ton of money to throw around and decide to rival the Yanks’ offer? If CC had jumped on the Yankees’ offer it leaves him with a what could have been scenario.
Listen, CC coming here would be great. But you can’t think of this as a fan- as of right now, CC has no loyalty to the Yanks, nor should he. Once he puts his name on the dotted line, that’s when it starts. Until then, CC’s gonna do what’s right for him- as anybody in his situation would.

Gotta get out more ...
I would have bet my left nut Boras repped CC. My bad. Sorry. I think the line is in the sand—meaning the Yankees will quickly scratch it out and draw another one when needed.

Unfortunately for the fans...
It is a players market right now. Players can afford to play “wait and see”.
My problem is with those fricking Red Sox… just like the spoiled kid brother they are always trying to major whining voice “get what the Yankees are getting”. The Yanks want CC, the Sox then want him, the Yanks want Tex, the Sox want him. The Yanks go after Santana..the Sox go after him… “GO AWAY SOX”

Tex ...
I’d go really hard after Tex just to drive up the price on the Sux.

I don't think any Sox fans
are seriously considering C.C. Most of our rotation is already set, and he’d be too expensive and too much of an injury risk.* Teixeira and Burnett are a more likely Sox targets, and maybe Lowe.
- I realize he’s healthy as a horse. But he CC has an enormous number of innings on his arm.

Carl Pavano with more upside
but as likely to pitch as many innings

Carl Pavano with more upside?
Are you crazy? Sabathia may be a long-term risk, based on how many innings he has already logged, but he is a horse. Sabathia is pretty much a lock for 200+ innings in the first few years of his contract. It would take Pavano 6 years to pitch 200 innings.
