General managers with shopping lists already are making calls to the Marlins and Royals (14 arbitration-eligible players) about possible trades. San Francisco, desperate for a proven bat, is expected to pursue one-dimensional second baseman Dan Uggla.

While I don't believe that Matt Cain could really be available, I'd have to kick the tires.

Well if they are willing to deal Sanchez, or Cain
The yanks should call up and see if they have interest in Cano…
FWIW, while Uggla’s reputation is awful as a 2nd baseman… BIS +/- system had Uggla at +4 this year at 2nd base which ranks him 9th out of 2nd baseman… last year he was pretty bad -19 which ranked him at 29th, the year before he had a 0 (meaning he made every play he was expected to, none more, none less, and that ranked him 14th.
So in two of the past 3 years hes been around average to slightly better, with one awful years. Not saying hes a wizard with the glove, but that he might be better then people realize.

I don't think I'd touch
Sanchez. 75 walks in 150 innings! He’s like Kei Igawa, but he was pitching in the most pitching friendly division in baseball, rather than in the AL East.

The Yankees....
should be making all the phone calls they can to every team for players to help and the majority of their players should be eligible to be traded.
