Cano and Yanks Close on 4 yr Deal?

[editor's note] frontpaged by jscape2000

According to Ken Rosenthal:

The Yankees, locking up one of their young stars, are on the verge of signing second baseman Robinson Cano to a four-year, $30 million contract, according to major-league sourcesThe deal, which would take Cano through his arbitration years, also is expected to include club options that would enable the Yankees to buy out one or two years of free agency.

More proof that Yanks' brass reads PA. I think it is good news.

This is great
Of course this is good.  The Yankees need to keep their young talent for once... at least the good ones, which they seem to have plenty of right now.

Cashman for President in 2008
I was so friggin happy when I logged on yesterday and saw that the Yankees were close to locking up Robinson.  I think that we are locking up an integral part of our lineup at a price that is very fair to everyone involved.  Now only if we can get Wang to accept something along the same lines.  Because God knows what Wang would get if he goes out there and gets another 15+ wins again this season.  I love how Cash is going away from business as usual by locking Cano up.....just goes to prove that Cash is the best GM in the game.

Easy there, big fella'
Cashman is the best?
Excuse me, I think I just threw up in my mouth. Cashman is not the best and PA has more than documented the reasons why.

I think locking Cano up is a no-brainer. Maybe, just maybe Cashman is learning the appropriate way to handle talent.

Thats my story and Im sticking to it......
Ronster, here take this glass of water and wash your mouth out, sorry i made you spew chunks.

I will admit I havent read the analysis of Cashman here on PA...i just made my way over from RAB and felt the need to say something.  I think that he has done a great job holding on to our young talent and bringing in the right type of players, even if it hasn't worked in the last few years.  I know some people think that it would be the easiest job in baseball to be the GM of the Yankees with our bottomless payroll, but I feel that there is a fucked if you do and fucked if you dont aspect to the Yankees GM position.  I just look at the roster and I see limitless potential from our young pitchers, and a lineup that should continue to mash for years to come.  Now if only we had a true shutdown ace...........

And he did overpay for Posada and Mo, but I for one is happy they will be wearing the pinstripes opening day again.
