I'm not saying Moose

I'm booing.

I saw this linked over at NoMaas and felt that I should share...

Asked if he carried any deeper concerns, Mussina said: "That they're going to take me out of the rotation? Who were they going to replace me with?"

A part of me says, he's right.  With Phil and Joba up, IPK at his innings limit and Ross Ohlendorf struggling to recover from his early injuries, the next best options are stop gaps at this point.

But a part of me says, Screw you Mike Mussina.  No one in is bigger than the team, and if you don't produce you can ride the pine for the next month.

What else
would you expect from Mussina.  The whiny bitch talk.

I actually think it's a sign of life
from Moose. He may live to regret it, but it shows he ain't ready to give in. Think it would be worse if he were saying, well, if the best thing for the team is for me to sit on the bench, I'll get behind that.

He's not ready to give in?
More like he knows the Yankees don't really have anyone else to fill in for him, no matter how crappy he pitches. I don't see anything motivating coming from him in that comment.

Its like
I suck, but so do the other options.  So they should let me continue to suck.

Don't know if
I read the comment the same way, but I agree that he will eat those words if he winds up riding the pine. That's motivation enough, isn't it?

Huh?
I actually read that as just the opposite.

Well
if you read the whole story, instead of pulling just that quote out, it changes things a little.

Like this part:

I feel good today," said Mussina, who believes he's headed for a turnaround here Monday night against the Tigers.

Why wouldn't he feel that way?

"If I didn't believe that, I should go home and stay there. But I don't feel that way," Mussina said before heavy rain delayed the start of the Yankees-Tigers opener.
