Anyone Collect Autographs?

I just wanna know if there is anyone else here the collects autographs--I am a decent collector myself. I do ttm (through the mail) and in person (at ballgames) autos. My collection includes:

Brian Bruney, Pat Neshek, Jesse Crain, Manny Sanguillen, Mike MacDougal, Bob Feller, Duke Snider, Don Larsen, Ian Snell, Bronson Arroyo, Pedro Feliciano, Bob Horner, Bobby Doerr, Bobby Richardson (one of the few things I purchased), Jose Canseco/Gary Carter cosigned (the other thing I purchased), Chris Volstad, Radhames Liz, Brent Lillibridge, Todd Jones, John Danks, Charlie Haegar, Jerry Owens, Magglio Ordonez, Ron Blomberg, Rob Fick, and Mike O'Flaherty.

What about you guys?

I still have my Little League glove somewhere
that was signed by Matty Alou. Oh, and my copy of "Palm Sunday" signed by Kurt Vonnegut.

Vonnegut
Now that's something worth having.
I didn't really love Palm Sunday though.  Did you meet him?  Why'd you have him sign that?

Yes, I met him. He spoke at NYU
while I was a student there. Palm Sunday was his latest book and I was reading it at the time.

That's so cool
All I've got are a bunch of poets no one in the 'real world' has ever heard of... WD Snodgrass, Billy Collins, Andrea Gibson, Katie Wirsing, Ishle Yu Park, Regie Cabico, etc...

I also met Joseph Heller and he
signed my copy of "God Knows". That's what you get for not carrying around a copy of Catch-22 all the time.

Heller's ok
but he wasn't in Back to School.

Wow where to start
I have Don Larson, Mickey Mantle, Yogi, Sparky Lyle, Phil Rizzutto, Moose Skowron, Whitey Ford, ron Guidry, Graig Nettles, Goose Gossage, Tommy John, Don Mattingly, Dennis Eckersly, Andy Pettite, Jorge Posada, Derek Jeter, Jason Giambi, Gary Sheffield, Roger Clemens, Joe Torre, David Cone, Doc Gooden, Aaron Small.  I also have an autographed Pete Rose bat, and a Reggie Jackson bat autographed by him, burt hooten, elias sosa, charlie hough.

A picture right after Cone's no hitter signed bu girardi and cone.  A picture of mantle, maris, and joe pepitone autogrpahed by pep.  I almost forgot David Wells, Jim Leyland, Mel Stottlemeyer, Don Zimmer, Hank Bauer, Stick Michael, Fritz Peterson.   I think that is it, there may be a few more.  But I am having a hard time keeping track of them all.

The only way I'm going to win a Gold Glove is with a can of spray paint. Reggie Jackson

how did you like
Fenway? where did you sit?

by beantownbosoxh8er on Aug 26, 2007 10:35 AM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I hated fenway
It's really kind of a bias thing, though. I sat in the outfield "bleachers" (really just really small old wooden seats), right below the big scoreboard with "John Hancock" on it. Pretty bad seats. I did find Fenway very crowded...moreso than Yankee Stadium.

the stadium SUCKS. IT needs to go.
I did get some monster seats once that was nice , great way to see a game and there are only 250 seats upthere.

Oh, I forgot.
I have a David Wells and Don Larsen autographed picture celebrating their no hitters.

Hey MG,
do you have tickets to Wednesdays games that are not expensive, but not in the bleachers, and next to homeplate for $20 a ticket?

I have a few cal ripken jr signed balls
from when I used to go to orioles spring training. They aren't worth much because he used to sign for anyone that wanted one, but it was a cool memory. He would work his way around the entire stadium signing autographs for anyone that wants one. It was great.

Autographs I wish I had (and probably could have had) are Robbie Cano and Chien Ming Wang when they were in my minor league stadium. And I really wish I had noticed Johan Santana when he played in my home town for 2 years... Its hard to know who I should try and get when they are still in A ball.

Losers always whine about their best. Winners go home and f*** the prom queen.
