YES for sale

according to Fortune YES is for sale see the link below:

http://money.cnn.com/2007/08/01/news/companies/yes_sale.fortune/index.htm

I guess given a $3-3.5bn price for YES George can afford the $200m/year payroll. Honestly if they sell YES where does that leave the team, most likely for sale as well the day George dies.

So what does Yankees post George compete? $200m per year will certainly be out of teh question. Will we get back to world were going to the post season is a major success?

Nope
Steinbrenner's kid said just a few days ago that they aren't selling the team.

But why else sell?
If the network brings in 300 million a year, at about 150 million profit.
That pretty much runs the team.
They sell all the big games to ESPN and My9 anyways, so it's not a problem of reaching a target audience.

A quote
"YES is jointly owned by the Yankees, investment bank Goldman Sachs & Co. (Charts, Fortune 500) , and former Nets owner Ray Chambers. Goldman and Chambers would like to cash out, YES and Yankees insiders say, and one source says to expect a deal by summer's end."

So it looks like they just need new partners.

Our chance ...
How many guys/gal blog on this site. I'm figuring if we each pony up what??? $20-30 million, we end up being in a very enviable position. C'mon dump the 401ks and let's get into the broadcasting bizz.

For those sitting on the fence, this is an opportunity to make a clean sweep of our broadcasting "talent".

Yeah
you probably get a bigger share than I do.  If I sell all my books on Amazon, I might scratch together 1000.

Struggling
Three kids has taken a huge financial toll, plus my wife just got breasts... I'm in for $4,500. I also request doing color for games in Baltimore, and Tampa Bay.

Ok
that's Sterling and Waldman out.
Now we just have to eliminate Kay, Lieter, Singleton, Girardi, O'Neill, Murcer, Flaherty, Justice, Kim Jones, and Bob Lorenz.
This is definitely going to take the whole blog...

It's not the Boss' 77% that's up for sale.

Interesting
Well just another sign that the Yankee universe will be different after the Boss.

The article's point that selling YES would cover operating cost for the team well in to the future is an important point.
