Game Over

Eric Gagne: 0.1IP, 3H, 4R, 1BB
Am I ever glad that we've still got Melky on the team and IPK in the minors.

5 losses back of Boston.
1 loss behind Seattle.
7 weeks to play.

This may very well be
the most satisfying night of the season thus far.

BoSox and Gagne's collapse.

DET loses.

SEA loses.

Yanks beating Carmona on a great performance by Hughes.

Joba came in and was unhittable.

Let me grab my Old Milwaukee beer because it doesn't get any better than this.

Let's just hope Moose pitches a decent outing tomorrow night.

Old Milwaukee?
You can't afford to buy a better beer?

That was a joke....
Old Milwaukee's slogan for years used to be:

"It doesn't get any better than this!"

Am I the only guy here who remembers those Old Milwaukee commercials from the 1980s?

In 1989
I started kindergarten.
So yeah, you might be the only one who remembers.

Yikes....
In 1989, I was a sophomore in high school.

Some of you guys might be lost if you watch Family Guy with any regularity because Seth McFarlane injects 80s pop culture references in every episode.

Sigh.  I'm getting old and I'm only 33.

geez
I'm a lot older then some of you, and yes of course I remember it.  God let me crawl back under my rock.

i still wouldve traded
#6 starter kason gabbard and probable career-minor leaguer david murphy for gagne.  but, unlike other teams, the yanks apparently have to give up their top prospects in order to make trades.

1977
The New York Post is rerunning all the 1977 Yankee columns.  On August 10, 1977 the Yankees were 5 games behind Boston.
