Around SBN: Steve McNair Found Shot to Death

Joba Chamberlain moves to AAA bullpen

The question now is when will he be called up from the minors? Cashman needs to make a few moves before the trade deadline passes, but this is good news...

BAD IDEA
why mess with a top prospect;s routine this late in the season?

I hope he's a starter next season.  PLEASE!!

If its past
this season, yes, its a very bad move.  But for the immediate future, it can help the team (like Santana did for the Twins)

Phil Hughes final rehab start
6.2 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 3 BB, 4 K -- 91 pitches -- 57 Strikes/ 34 Balls

Didn't have the strikeout total we are used to seeing from him, but you can't argue with his results.

This is the fifth outing in a week that a Scranton starter didn't allow a run.

I would rather see
Edwar and Britton given a fair shot, but since fair shots are hard to come by in the Bronx for rookies without big hype...

Come on, that
involves actually using the pitchers more than once every 2 weeks.  Your asking for too much.

Ah yes,
and still I dream.

Edwar and Britton
and the like may be good, but they're not difference makers.

Joba could be a difference maker.

Edwar and Britton could and should replace Myers and Farnsworth and bolster the 6th and 7th innings.

But the 8th inning has been a problem for this team since Tom Gordon's arm fell off.

Agreed
Joba could be our Zumaya down the stretch. Luckily it sounds like the Yanks are viewing this as a short term thing since I have always thought that putting Zumaya in the bullpen as a setup man was a waste.

Though
(and this is a concession to those who say I put too much faith in stats) there is something to be said for having an untouchable bullpen.  Opposing managers tend to worry about it too much and play despritely (see Yanks vs Angels).  Having a combination like Shields-KRod-Percival or even a pair like Okijama-Papelbon is worthwhile.
But until Joba fails as a starter (which he won't) I'm not suggesting a permanent move.

Agreed
Ideally, Humberto would slot into that role as the power setup guy. I just think it is a waste to have 75 good innings of Joba instead of 200. Then again, with Torre at the helm he might get his 200 out of the pen!

200
Before September 15th.

Joba
long term should be in the rotation long...I agree with the pfister...
Hell, bring up Kennedy too if Cashman can't get anybody come Tuesday....lol Stop babying these guys...I wish they televised minor league games to evaluate . Although then I'd never get any work done...
And I think when Tabata comes up, he may prove that he belongs...
