Do you go with Pudge or Posada? Or maybe Mauer, Martinez or Varitek? This is what ESPN had to say about picking a catcher for the all-star game. I wonder how Varitek is even considered. Here is the updated votes.

is the best catcher in baseball. He and Jorge should be the two All-Stars.

Off Topic ticket question

One of the SBN bloggers from FL is coming to NY in mid-August and wnats to see a Yankee game:

"I've targeted the matinee vs. the O's August 15, and was writing today to see whether you had any advice in procuring tickets or about where to sit without spending money I don't have. Any other advice on how to maximize my enjoyment of the Stadium would also be appreciated."

Any thoughts?

Stats

Here are the batting stats and fielding stats. The only possible argument for Varitek is that his pitchers are doing well, but that's really pretty ridiculous.

It's ironic

that for the catcher vote someone besides a yankee gets "respect" votes simply because of what he has done before. Most of the time we find yankees like giambi at the top of the vote even if they don't nessecarily deserve it. (partly because NY is the biggest market.) Normally irrational voters help the yankees, but not for poor jorge. He deserves legitimate MVP talk if it weren't for A-Rod. I don't know much about catchers affects on pitchers, but Jorge seems to have handled this years staff full of rooks and shitty relievers extremely well.

Posada

The guy has broken into rarified "Yankee air", and now has to be considered one of the great Yankee catchers of all time. He needs his props, and I don't see him getting it yet.

BTW: I'm in NY July 2,3 with my daughter and would love to take her to the staduim for the first time. Can anyone turn me on to some decent tix? I need 2, and I'll pay whatever (within reason).
