I Think We've Reached A Turning Point

The Yankees needed a streak like this (currently at 6 wins, including todays game, I believe), and we've found it. We could use more wins, and we're well on our way. But now, after sweeping the Pirates, I think this could be the turning point of the season, unless you like to think of last weekends series against Boston as the turning point. I'm not setting this in stone, but if we play .625 ball the rest of the year, we should be able to at least win the wildcard. Now, let's just pray that they Sux have there characteristic mid-August breakdown. It doesn't even have to be in the form of a five game sweep.

My thoughts exactly!!!
well i can say that out bombers are looking pretty good now. i think you hit the nail right on the head saying that this will be the turning point of the season! the yanks just need to keep playing like this so we can chip at the margin that is between us and the Boston Bums. if the batting order hits well and the bullpen holds up their end of the bargin then i believe out bombers can go all the way and win their 27th world championship!! LONG LIVE THE EVIL EMPIRE!

i will admit
I wouldn't have minded that trade from happening.  Now I am relieved it didn't happen. Yes, jscape, you were right.

Easy there grasshopper
They have happened to hit a relatively easy patch of their schedule. They still have a ways to go to get back in the wild card race and Detroit is fucking good. It sucks for the Yanks' playoff chances, but it was real nice watching them destroy the Mets.

Agreed. I like the streak but let's
beat some actually good teams before as Dennis Green would say "crowning their ass". With a sweep of the Mets next weekend and I may be on the same page.

Streaking ...
I'm kinda' with pfisty on this one. Remember we beat a slumping Chisox team (a good team, but they are slumping), and a Pirates team that is young and coming, but out of their league.

Amazingly, our pitching hasn't demonstratively improved. It is our hitting and run production that is driving this run. Abreu, who is a heart attack in right, appears to have his pop-gun swing back. Cano, is also hitting.

But here's who I think is making the biggest impact. Melky. He's a better centerfielder than Damon. With Giambi out, it moves Damon and his achy legs to DH. That enables his legs to stay youngish. Melky's presence in the lineup everyday is also making an impact. He simply makes everyone alittle better. He's a bright spot. It happened last season and it's happening again.

The most important thing, I think...
is that these wins give them confidence. Even if it is against fairly easy teams. I believe we play Arizona this week, and although they're not world beaters, taking two outta three will be nice, with a sweep unlikely.

i agree
that we really dont need to worry about confidence as long as our boys are still in the playoff hunt. as long as the "Ws" are stacking up the yanks will be confident in what they are doing. like mg said all the things after winning all the confidence flows from wins.

I don't know if you got the official
anaconda 'welcome', so welcome to the blog.  Use the reply button so we understand which thought you are responding to (it obvious in this thread, but for future reference).
