Damon catches some nightlife

Damon catches some nightlife

Johnny Damon is finding out why they call this town the City that Never Sleeps.

The Yankees center fielder (along with his wife, Michelle Mangan) hobnobbed with Renee Zellweger and other celebs at the "Saturday Night Live" after-party into the wee hours of Sunday morning.

He was still at Rockefeller Center's Sea Grill when our spy retired around 4:30 a.m.

The rest of us might need a day off after such hours. But Damon connected for a two-run double Sunday night to help the Yankees beat the Mets 6-2.

I guess Damon is not so old after all.

Lets play Billy Ball!

You
are the kind of baseball fan that makes my skin crawl.

What I love
(among other things)
is the use of a single game as the justification for 1) it's ok to stay out ridiculously late, and 2) Damon not looking old.

Well
it's made the Island of Logic and Reason feel more like a fortress under seige on some days, but I'm all for discussion, because I believe we can make them smarter baseball fans if we discuss why their beliefs are misplaced (rather than just shouting at them until they leave).

That is a noble approach
I would rather have them leave, but it is nice to get rid of the really awful ones like zukatesta and Kingfish. The others with issues: garp on occassion, cbeck, even matthaggs can still be salvaged. Sadly though, I think this kid is firmly in the zukatesta camp.

Certainly
Our discussion on the Cashman thread was freakin' excellent.

However, then there are people like strappedyankee, who refuse to even read what other people write.

As evidenced by
his posting of the Giambi quote days after the same quote was used in the diary. Frustrating to say the least.

Most Respecfully
only quoted the commentary of one game, however the theory of taking the extra base, hitting and running and stealing bases is as old as the game itself. Before the homerun, in the dead ball era, hitting combined with running won games. My theory is that when the Yankee bats become anemic its time to use another tried and true baseball technique RUN. The Yankees are not feeble old men. They are millionaries that are spoiled and they need a manager who can light a fire under their ass and remind them they are wearing the PINSTRIPES

I'm bumming
This would have been an excellent thread to participate in. I'm bumming that I was in a Phoenix desert during this "dust up."

Gotta' thought for you, Strapped ...
Follow around Carol Pavano throughout his surgery and rehab. Give us six month reports.
We want photos of the strippers he is partying with. Thx.

Always good to come back from work trip and see that Pinstripe Alley is buzzing with content and contempt.

Pavano
another Cashman blunder has gone away. Like Jared Wright and Kevin Brown.
