Globe calls Red Sox "The Beatles of Baseball"

Hilarious. Read the Article and think of the 7-1 beating Kansas City gave to resident asshole Kurt Schilling and the Sox.

"Opening Day fever: As anticipation bubbles near and far, Sox set to bow in."

By Dan Shaughnessy, Globe Staff  |  April 2, 2007

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Red Sox are the baseball Beatles. They are Elvis. They are American Idols. Also Dominican Idols and Japanese Idols.

They are national cover boys and top draws of ESPN and Fox. At this hour they have more star power than any American sports team (yes, even more than the Yankees), and they are gaining on Club Steinbrenner with the second-highest payroll in all of baseball, a whopping $145.7 million.

Sometimes it's hard to remember the Red Sox finished in third place last season, failing to make the playoffs for the first time since 2002.

What do you expect?
The Boston Globe owns the Red Sox. Shaughnessy is all about the hyperbole. I think I threw up in my mouth at least three times reading that drivel.

He must be bipolar
Shaughnessy flip-flops almost daily in his columns. It seems like he goes for bashing the Sox to polishing their knobs then back to bashing several times a week.

yup
Of course they are hipocrits.  And I like how they continually ditch thier homegrown talent and replace thier infield yearly...

Let them be the Beatles
I've always preferred the Rolling Stones, who are still rockin'.  The Beatles haven't been a band for decades and half of them are dead.

Well the core Stones
are still alive.  Whereas John Lennon has been dead most of my life. Nothing against the Beatles, but I like the Yanks as the Stones better.

I think that has to be Giambi
And I think Jeter is going to be Mick because he's the one getting all the girly action.

Who do you pick from the Redsox to marry an amputee?
