...and so it begins...

Pavano struck on foot...may not live to see Monday....

Just kidding on the last part but he is injured again.

Yankees.com

TAMPA, Fla. -- Carl Pavano was hit on the left foot while pitching live batting practice to Yankees players on Saturday.

Pavano, 31, was clipped by a ball batted by infielder Alberto Gonzalez. The right-hander is attempting to make the Yankees' rotation this spring after losing the last 1 1/2 Major League seasons to an assortment of various injuries.

"It feels a little stiff," said Pavano, who later joked about having a bulls-eye on him. "It isn't the first time I got hit down there."

Better than
straining hit "buttock" covering first base...at least he was hit by something connected to the game.

But now, he'll likely hurt his back trying to compensate for the foot soreness, then he'll hurt his shoulder trying to compensate for the back injury which is try to compensate for the foot soreness...and on and on and on and on

So much for regaining clubhouse respect
What a freakin' joke. Looks like we're going to have to bring up Hughes earlier than expected at this rate.

Are you suggesting
that Pavano just "walk it off?"

I don't
like the guy just like all of you, but this one isn't his fault.  When he injures his back from changing his mechanics, then it will be his fault.
Great Success!

I agree
Anyone can be hit by a line drive but because its Carl its a story. Lets wait till he misses a start before we knock him. P.S- I hate Pavano but lets give him a 5th chance to make right.

Will not start
I still don't believe Pavano will pitch for the Yankees this year. Too much has happened over the last two years for me to believe he has any desire or heart to pitch here. Anyone could get hit with a line drive--true. But it was Pavano that got hit.

This line drive will probably cause a bone bruise that will continue to throb. He'll get a second and third opinion to try to explain why he's walking with a limp at which point they will determine he fractured a little bone in his foot--efectively shutting him down for the rest of the season. Just my thoughts on King Carl.

This isn't about lack of desire
This is about being overly fragile. That's not mental; that's physical. This is something he doesn't have a whole lot of control over. A player can't just will an injury away. In addition, there is no "walking off" injuries, as doing so usually costs the player his career and the team a lot of money and time. If you're going to berate anyone over this, it shouldn't be Pavano; it should be the man that acquired Pavano.

Add him to the mix
It's hard to blame Cash-man because when Pavano came available, I wanted him. He's a Long Island guy and I figured he'd fit right in. Like Cash, I was wrong too.

No, blame should indeed be aimed at Pavano. He wasn't forthright about his injuries, and then got hurt screwing around in his Porsche with some bimbo. Being a former pitcher (minor leagues), I understand the mentality of athletes--especially pitchers who understand that each pitch could be their last. Most are hypochondriacs, and are highly suspicious of every ache and pain. You have to pitch with pain. I don't like Randy Johnson, but I give him kudos for going out there and leaving it on the hill--sore back and all. The same thing with Mussina, and Mo.

Pavano went David Wells on us and on his team. It seems to me that he simply didn't want to pitch with pain. Look at Radke last year. He pitched with a torn labrum! Most people couldn't brush their teeth with a torn labrum. Meanwhile Pavano's out because of a butt muscle ...Puh-leeze. It's no wonder the team has no rspect for him--he doesn't deserve it.
