Is Andy after a multi year contract?

According to statements on the Yankees home page Andy is looking to pitch well beyond next year.

Star-divide

If he had just exercised his option he'd have gotten 1 more year, now he might be asking for 3-4 more years. Could that be the reason he opted out? If so how will the Yankees respond to a request for a 4 year contract? Carrying Andy for 1 year at $16m is one thing, $60/4 is something different...

I think it is great to have Andy back for 2 years, 3-4 is something different though?

Well..
They shouldn't give it to him.

Perpetual club options would be more like it.

Make him our version of Wakefield
I think they have a mutual $4 million option for as long as Wakefield wants to pitch.

So give Andy a $15 million mutual option for as long both parties want to stay together.  He's not a Clemens.

I want him to stick around long enough to get the magic # of wins (probably 250) so that he gets into the Hall of Fame.

Eh
I want him to stick around as long as he is useful to the Yankees rotation. I don't see him making the HOF unless he leads the Yankees to a few more championships.

Andy needs 300 wins for HoF
ain't gonna happen...

He's at 201 now and is 35 years old... 15 wins a year for 5 years in generous and that leaves him 24 wins short...

He'd have a much better chance in NL but I think he is and always has been a Yankee at heart

He said
He can see himself pitching 10 more years because "I'm lefthanded or whatever."

He wants to pitch in the new stadium.

Doubtful ...
No one questions his heart and guts when he's on the mound, but off the field, he's a family guy. New stadium or not, I really believe this is it.
If he does want to come back, though, I agree it has to be one year contracts.

My wife ...

Seriously, anyone who is married understands that Andy (not Andy Roth) was speaking the truth.

Yeah, can you
imagine the conversation, uh, honey, all the guys have been calling, saying they want me back. So I was kinda wondering if I could hang on to my cajones for one more year. You know, just for baseball. Then I'm super-pumped to drive the kids to football practice!

That sucks ...
Back when I played, we didn't train much in the off-season. In fact, most of the guys I knew worked full-time jobs. I guess the 'scape has changed. Heck, for the cash he's making, he can hire Radu, Richard Simmons and Denise Austin, and still have money leftover to squeeze in Billy Blanks. He'll look amazing when camp starts.

Okay
The visual of Andy Pettitte working out with Richard Simmons makes me want to hurl right on my keyboard.

Please stop.
