Around SBN: An Explanation For Some Of The Perplexing HOF Snubs

Bud sucks!

I hope that nobody is drawing any harsh conclusions because of what was posted in the Mitchell report. First and Foremost I will never trust a Red Sock. Secondly I want to say if baseball wants to get to the bottom of steroids in baseball then they should start with Kirk Radomski and work they're way up from there. It was quite apparent to me that just about every player in it that wasnt associated with BALCO got their HGH and steroids from Radomski himself or someone that got it from Radomski. I don't condone the use of anabolic steroids and agree that they should be banned from all sports. As far as HGH is concerned nobody really knows enough about the stuff to say that it is bad. It hasnt been around long enough to make any conclusions about the long term affects. It obviously has a tremendous healing affect and could prove to be a tremendous asset in sports medicine and recovery. The guys that took HGH per the advice from Radomski to heal their injuries quicker or speed along recovery shouldnt be thrown into the steroid debate. They maybe made the wrong descision but if your an athlete and a strength trainer tells you that this stuff can speed up recovery time you do it. Especially if it isnt a banned substance in your sport. The stuff wasnt banned why shouldnt they do it if it isnt illegal? Andy Pettite one of my personal all time favorites name is now soiled because he is in this report. In the report Radomski says he injected Pettite 2-4 times with HGH. First of all was it 2 or 4 times. You should remember that. Second of all he said the only time was in 2001 after Andy';s surgery. Again by his advice to speed Andy's recovery because Andy wanted to get out there and help his team. He said he never again injected Pettite. As for Clemens if the anabolic steroid stories are true then he shouldnt of done it but I have the same view about him and HGH as anyone else. If not more considering his age and his disadvantage of slower recovery time. The guy is still one of the all time greats. He was pre 1998. Remember he was pitching against hitters that were juiced also. Sounds like an even playing field if you ask me. Sure this makes all of the Cal Ripkens and Derek Jeters all that much better to know they did it clean. We hope. Oh and I seen a diary that mentioned Tony Gwynns name. That guy did not do PED's. Look at his body structure. He was just a great hitter. Lets get it right. Bonds and Clemens are both Hall of Famers. There shouldnt even be a hesitation there. 2 of the greatest ever with or without the roids. Baseball knew about roids in 88' and did nothing about it except wind the ball tighter so the juice heads could hit it further so they could cash in and revive the sport after the 94 strike. The whole mess is Seligs fault with some help from the union as well. They knew all along and did nothing. I think Donald Fehr and Bud Selig should be banned and Pete Rose should be inducted. If Bud was as concerned about steroids as he is his "Legacy" now then this problem never would have happened. I'm also sure that not one person here stopped watching baseball because they knew players were on roids everyone watched and enjoyed. I did, you did, we all did. Oh one more thing to Bud you didnt need roids and wound baseballs to recover the sport after 94. The New York Yankees would have been good enough.
