Jake Peavy for Hughes, Melky?
At mlbtraderumors he says Buster Olney states that theres "talk" of Jake Peavy for Phil Hughes and Melky Cabrera at the GM meetings.
this is obviously just a rumor but what do you think?
Peavys gonna be an exepensive signing in 2 years, and i doubt the pads would fork up the money so there open to hear talks
i love hughes and value melky really hight but i think youd have to make this trade

Wait
I don't think I would do the above trade either, but that's a lame reason why not. Especially considering Peavy's minute "big game" sample size.

Albeit a different sport...
All it takes is one great postseason to change a player's reputation.

No can do
Also, NL pitchers don't necessarily translate well to the AL. I haven't done a ton of research on this, but I think AL pitchers making the league switch have been more successful. (If someone wants to waste some company time and prove me wrong, go for it).
Personally, I'd wait until he's a FA and make a run.

Peavy may never reach free agency

That's just it ...
I'm not sure I'd want him on my AL staff--especially considering his fragility.

I firmly believe in the NL to AL thing

Halfway there
You can pitch much more aggressively to the 7-8-9 hitters in the NL. A pitcher never walks those guys and often strikes a couple of them out.
I might look towards the GB/FB rates, as well the pitcher's linedrive percentage.
I'll keep Googling for it, a couple years ago someone used the three year stats of all the pitchers who switched leagues and calculated the average adjustment.

K/BB
I'd say he would throw 200IP, 1.18WHIP, 2.75K/BB, 3.20ERA. Sign me up!

Especially those two
Beckett never dominated the NL the way he was supposed to, and it required the recreation of his mechanics to reach his potential. Once he's repeated his success (1.14 WHIP) for a few season and overcomes his herpes "blister problem," then he'll have been a success.
