Yankee players need to get behind Joe...

All year long (and in past years) when our players have been up and down, Joe was covering their back and taking heat.  Thats part of why they have bunches of loyalty towar him.

Well if they want him back, they need to walk the walk and put it on the line.

Example...if Andy calls Cashman today and says he will walk if Joe is fired...

Cash and even George have GOT to realize the old adage about the devil you know vs. the devil you don't.  There's no name on the replacement lists I've seen that makes me want to get rid of Joe. There's no Piniella out there. And lets don't recycle somebody like Hargrove.  I prefer Girardi over Mattingly, but between the two, I'd still rather have Joe.

Previous short series playoffs proved that its pitching, guys, that gets the prize.  So how did we react for the start of the season?  Pavano actually won Opening Day...but you know the rest.  Igewa - please don't remind me.  Moose, hurt. Roger in Texas.  Wang, hurt.  Farns can't pitch a clean inning, can't come in mid inning, and can't pitch two innings. These aren't a manager's problems who should be dealing with on the field issues.
The big bats in the lineup got us to the WC over the long season, but again in the short series, pitching was the difference.

I'm a charter member of the Joe Bashing society, but I really believe we lose more than Joe if he goes and we absolutely cannot afford that.

I could be talked into
Bowa on a two-year deal.

Other than that, I agree with you.  The lack of a viable improvement makes this a hard move to figure out.

Agreed
I was one of the loudest to kick Joe out. But without a marked upgrade why move him out. I'm convinced Mattingly isn't the answer not to mention the fact that I wouldn't want to be the one to fire him when his time comes. That would be akin to trading DiMaggio, or Gehrig.... Talk about the Bronx is Burning!

Girardi was my first pick, but he's played with these guys. That makes it hard to "be the man."

Bowa? I think Bowa and Pena bolt if Torre goes. Guidry would probably also leave, although I wouldn't have a problem with that. In fact, I'd welcome it and go after Orel Hershiser.

Unless a notable upgrade is presented. I suggest we stay put.

As I posted
in a diary this morning, Joe has had a remarkable run as manager. I won't rehash everything I wrote, but I don't understand why anybody thinks someone else could accomplish more than Joe has. He's won the 6 pennants and 4 world titles in 12 seasons. How many other managers in history have done that? All that with 3 levels of playoffs to get through. He deserves adulation, not vilification. He also deserves a more appreciative boss. I'm sure he'll have that on his next job.
