Rudy Giuliani Roots for the Red Sox!

I'm sorry, but this is baseball sacrilege!

BOSTON -In an act of baseball blasphemy, Yankee die-hard Rudy Giuliani said Tuesday he's pulling for the Boston Red Sox to win the World Series over the Colorado Rockies.

I'm rooting for the Red Sox," the Republican presidential contender said in response to a question, sparking applause at the Boston restaurant where he was picking up a local endorsement.

"I'm an American League fan, and I go with the American League team, maybe with the exception of the Mets," he said. "Maybe that would be the one time I wouldn't because I'm loyal to New York."

I wonder how Randy Levine will explain this to Steinbrenner? They have practically built a shrine to Giuliani in the Bronx whenever he shows up to a game and now he's rooting for the Red Sox to win it all.

I mean, no true Yankee fan would ever root for Boston and visa versa. I have a ton of Red Sox friends and we always have a good time when the teams play, but I tell you this is one flop I thought he'd never take and I hope the stadium faithful let him have it when he shows up next season...

Can a true Yankee fan ever root for the Red Sox to win the World Series?

That settles it,
Rudy's lost my vote! (Oh wait a minute, he never had it.)

Rudy
The way I see it, is that Colorado had to best the Giants and the Dodgers (two former New York teams) before making the playoffs/WS. Rudy should root for the Rockies since they proved better than 2 (former) NY teams.

i wouldn't vote for him anyway
that why politics and sports don't mix... you can't be a hater if you want to get the votes.

I wonder if that has anything to do with...
I wonder if that kind of pandering has anything to do with the NH primary that he's trying to win?

OK so I live here and have to
deal with these people. They are having a field day with this giuliani thing.
I say f'em!No self respecting fan can pull for his/her rival team just to see their league win.
it should be the opposite! you should want to see them loose in painful fashion.
I think he is a butthead and is doing it because there are more votes to be had in New England then Colorado.
The Boss should not let him back into the stadium.

The debate over whether ARod is
a "true Yankee" will go on forever, but the case has been closed for over 100 years that a "true Yankee fan" always roots against the Red Sox. Rudy should just go "Cheney" himself.

I Think
This will backfire on him... Now NYers are pissed because he said that, and New Englanders just realize hes kissing ass..... he should of just kept his mouth shut, wat a bad presidential canidate

This will definitely backfire on him
Check out the comments from around the country on the CNN political ticker.  Even outside NY and Mass, this looks like serious pandering.

Of course it's pandering!
Rudy is not the only one who pulls stuff like this. Have you checked out how many baseball hats Hillary has worn? No votes were probably won or lost by this move because that won't be a deciding factor for somemone who is actually going to vote. (You know who you are you 60% of the population!) What is sad for me is that although I may not agree with a particular person's/politician's point of view, I generally respect them for remaining true to their convictions. I have a really hard time with people who cave in to the pressure of a situation and won't stand their ground. He should have said to the group, "I hope you'll understand I'd have a really hard time rooting for the Red Sox," then, waited for the laughs or groans and moved on to more important subjects.

I would hope though that if Rudy does win the Presidency, he doesn't don a gray hat with a red star on it and say, "I really like that Brezhnev cats' ideas."

That's a joke
I am a New York Football Giants fan and I do pull the Rudy and root for the NFC in the Superbowl, but never the Eagles.  If the Eagles played a team with Satan, Hitler and Stalin on it, I'm still rooting against the Eagles.

Rudy Rudy Rudy
You obviously don't know a THING about baseball despite all those front row seats you've had to Yankee games.

It is ABSOLUTE blasphemy for a Yankee fan to EVER EVER root for the Red Sox.

Are you f'ing kidding me?

I thought I hated him before, but now I REALLY hate him.

And New England isn't buying it for a minute.

The only GOOD thing about Massachusetts is that it NEVER votes for a Republican for president (oh that and the clam chowder)...and New Hampshire voters are not buying it for a minute.

You, Rudy, are a complete jerk.

Hey Randy Levine, how do you like your Rudy now?

He's not the only Traitor!!!
I just read this ridicolous column http://fiveoclocklightning.blogspot.com/2007/10/george-for-most-part-is-retired.html at Five O'Clock Lightening that basically puts down Randy Levine and Hank Steinbrenners for not showing the Red Sox respect. WTF I think its disgusting for a so-called NYY fan site to write such crap painting our Teams executives in this light, which borderlines on treason much like what the F#$! Rudy G. did this week.

Well my hope and wish this winter is that all the so-called NYY fans move on just like their beloved St. Bloe did!

He;s not the only one
I forgot to add the exact paragraph that painted Randy and Hal in a bad but here it is,

Excerpt taken from http://fiveoclocklightning.blogspot.com/2007/10/george-for-most-part-is-retired.html

[Hank is picking up right where his dad left off, swaggering and bullying his way through a conversation as only a guy who never actually competed on the field can. (It's like an armchair warrior -- no one is braver than the guy who has never seen battle.) It's the day before the World Series and instead of showing some class and tipping his hat to the Red Sox, Hank acts as if it were the Yankees who mattered. if it weren't for the Yankees, the Red Sox would be just another team. Red Sox Nation? Ha! he admiringly quotes fellow putz Randy Levine who once denigrated the Red Sox for riding the Yankees coattails. And on and on and on he goes. Doesn't he realize the Red Sox are the ones who made it to the World Series and we're sitting at home? Wht right does he have to take away from the Series and mock a competitor who outplayed them on the eve of baseball's most important event? Pure lack of class and Bud Selig should publicly rap his knuckles. Unacceptable. God help me, I think I'm getting ulcers.]

that is sickening
Yankee fans hate the Red Sux and they never say anything good about them EVER and that is how that goes.
