Around SBN: Jeremy Lin And How The Pac-12 Missed Him

Barry Zito???

There have been rumblings that the A's are trying to trade Zito before he becomes a free agent, since there is no way they are going to sign him.  Supposively, the Yanks and Mets are the favorites to sign him if he becomes a free agent.

I would sign him without blinking... ditch Wright and pick up the closest thing to Andy Pettite (minus a few years) that there is.  He hasn't been consistent lately, but he's a great pitcher...

This is one thing the Yankees need, a second lefty, with experience who isn't 43 years old.  May have to wait till next season though...

Nah
If Zito comes to NY he'll be a Met.  Peterson (Met's pitching coach) is a life long friend.  And it seems like Zito always self destructs at big moments.  Let the Mets have him.  With potential free agents like Pettitte, Zito, Buerhle, and I forget who all else, this year might finally be an active off season.
Have faith in the Yankees my son. Think of the great DiMaggio.

barry
I'll take barry on the yanks any day. Finding a decent left hander is like finding a healthy carl pavano. Plus he better than a decent left hander, however I would rather have willis if the marlins are willing to trade. I do agree with you that he shouldn't be the ace of the Yanks staff, but as a number 2 or 3 i'm loving it. Pettitte is never coming back to NY and I don't want Buerhle, so Zito starts to look alot better than Pavano,Wright,Small, and even Shacon.
Johnson
Zito
Mussina

Pavano/Shacon/Shacon
I'd take that rotation rather than this years

Zito?
See I want Barry only for one reason....The lollipop curve...that pitch is too cool.
What? You gotta problem with that?

Prospects
The A's would probably want Duncan for Barry. The price might be a little high for Cashman.

Forget Zito
In this years free agent class I have little interest in he is an above average pitcher who is going to command ace money. The guy I like is Kelvim Escobar. He is pitching great this year so far. Another guy I like is Doug Davis of the Brewers. He is a lefty who struck out 200+ batters last year.
Carl Pavano is a bum
