I'm Ready

The stories are shallow and mostly filler lately. We all are waiting for the first pitch to be thrown. I remember when I was a kid and my grandfather took me to a Sunday double header at the stadium many years ago. Ken Brett was pitching (George's brother) and he hit a home run and two doubles for the Red Sox as the Yanks lost both games.

It didn't matter much. I was at the ball park and wolfing down hot dogs, Cracker Jacks and peanuts. How were we able to eat so much junk? I was praying for a foul ball to be hit my way and I did finally get one in 1973 from Reggie Jackson when he was on the A's. It's a little beaten up from the years of moving from one end of the country to the other, but I have it. I can still eat a ton of over priced processed food whenever I'm at a game even today. There's something about being at a ball park that does that to me. Spring training is the time when I get to see a rookie or two maybe stand out and the Yanks have a few, but our roster is done except for maybe a bench player.
I'm ready.

one of the "headlines" at Yahoo! Sports right now is  "Bonds Dons Wig In Team Skit".

Can't wait
for the first pitch. When the baseball season starts, it's always the best day of the year for me. When I was in high school, we always cut classes to be at opening day at the Stadium. It didn't matter how crappy the hot dogs (or soggy buns) were. It was just great to be there. Now out here on the west coast, I'll be watching on TV, thanks to MLB Extra Innings, but the field will still look amazingly green and the excitement will be just as high. Anything and everything is possible once the game starts - from great plays to bad calls to the guy in the stands banging on his pan. There's nothing like Yankee baseball. Bring it!
