Pettitte holds news conference with Houston media

Andy Pettitte and his agent Randy Hendricks spoke at a news conference with the Houston media today explaining his departure from Houston by saying that the Yankees went after him like gangbusters while the Astros implicated that they wanted to move in another direction:

"It shocked me that (the Astros) would not continue to go up, when the Yankees continued to push and push and pursue and they (the Astros) really didn't do much," he said. "It was a full-court press by the Yankees. I've talked to the guys, and obviously they wanted me to come back up there."

Andy
seems to have made a choice based on who seemed to want him the most.  That's how Houston stole him from us 3 years ago.
He also must realize that the Astro's window of opportunity is closing, while the Yanks' window remains open.
Have faith in the Yankees my son. Think of the great DiMaggio.

Observation?
Quick read / interpretation of comments in SI article regards Clemens..i.e. "Andy takes care of Andy..no idea what he (Clemens) is gonna do"
(paraphrasing) - anyway - sensed (and granted its a small kernel of info) that the two were no longer quite as chummy-chummy as the devoted-ones of a few years back....?

I wonder if Clemens "billion-dollar....I'll play the ClubMed schedule thank-you" persona had (or has) soured his take with other players.

Personally - Dont see him coming back to NY - certainly dont want him under the same "playing" conditions - and if he does move, see him going for the adulation that only will come from Fenway at this stage of life....

Odd to still be talking about the dude - seeing as he "retired" (what?) fours years ago (???)

Anyway....small take on things.

Torre
also said a few years that there is no way he would let any player ever have the Clemens vacation schedule.
Great Success!

No
There's no way Clemens is coming back here. People who think he will are just deluding themselves.

Question?
Whats the latest & greatest regards Petitte's elbow / arm?

He has having some "down time" when leaving the Yanks and recall him shutting down some of the last year or two (?) - so how durable is our best lefthander?

Any info / insights?
