Greenfuzz's game 1

Getting the call that I got a free seat to tonights game was unexpected.  I had a couple mojito's with the office crowd and then my friend met me and we headed to the stadium.  I'm in a green dress with a black shirt over it and high heels.  No yankees gear, or hat, nothing but the keychain in my pocket had a yanks logo.  People passed us and said "They're from the Upper East Side".

First off, it's my first time in the bleachers and I knew I was going to need some remedial help for the lineup chant.  I confess I really didn't know that they say "Box Seats Suck!" at the end.  I guess I never understood what they were saying until I could see my fellow creatures lips move.

Star-divide

There is no view of the radar gun numbers or the pitch count from the bleachers.  The balls seems slower because of the perspective when the come out toward you.  I felt Damon was right near me, even though we were in the second to last row of section 41.  The creatures were totally getting a rise out of the Detroit CF, they even got him to give the finger, to which a couple hundred fingers were returned.

I won't go into the play by play, you all saw it.  Bronx Banter has a great one up that I couldn't compare to. http://bronxbanter.baseballtoaster.com/archives/530608.html But there were some great moments for me personally. I was at Wang's very first game, so it was great to see him win this game.  Seeing the HR balls coming towards us, seeing Jeter go 5 for 5 and chanting MVP! MVP! at the top of my lungs. Hearing the guy next to me call for Miguel Cairo to get in the game (I kid you not)when A-Rod struck out made me think of Pfisty and all of you.  Seeing Mo come out of the pen brought a tear to my eye.

All I have are a couple crappy cell phone photos, which I will not post.  But it was awesome, couldn't have been better.  I feel addicted and I wish I could go to a playoff game every night of my life

both of us
are in the photo industry, he's one of my photographers and neither of us had a camera or took a picture. Sad. He even complained to me when I took the two cell phone pictures because they were going to look like crap.  In my cell the players look like individual pixels.  I'll have to get them out and see if they are any better.

Great recap!
It's amazing to be in the crowd when Mo sprints out to the mound, isn't it? That is one thing that the tv doesn't come close to capturing.

it's always good
I don't know really how many other postseason games I'll get to go to, and I got to see Mo in one.

the bleachers are great
the only place in the world where 10 year olds teach 25 year olds new curse words.

who needs radar numbers or pitch counts when it's all happening in front of you anyways.

I really enjoyed it
I do like to be a bit nearer, as a visual person, I love being behind home plate, even if it's in the nose bleeds.  But I liked the more proletariat crowd in the bleachers.  Although they were kind of rowdy it wasn't a game with any real controversy.  (and anyway some of you know I had a woman fall on me from several rows back in the upper deck on opening day, flattening me on the seats in front of me)

I was such a sore thumb though, in my green and my low cut dress, the guys around me initially didn't know what to make of me. (and it was 100% guys for many rows and seats around me, there were some women in the front of the section).  Next time I sit out there, hopefully I'll have more notice to be dressed appropriately.

People paid attention to the game and gambled a bit.  Sometimes in other seats, people talk on their cell phones, leave early and act like they are at a strip club or something.  I liked the crowd.

unrelated
first of all--sounds great. I'm glad you had a good time...I wanna go to a postseason game one day (not this year; next perhaps?)...

Anyway, I subscribe to MLB.com's mlb.tv thing. I have a monthly subscription. How do I cancel it?

Thanks

Spend 4 hours on the phone with them
My suggestion is to make sure you're on speakerphone.
