I am more confused than ever...
To win in the post season, do you really need good pitchers? Or do you just need your shitty pitchers to pitch well?
I am watching Kenny Rogers mow down the A's after he mowed down the Yankees. Yesterday, despite losing, Jeff Weaver pitched better than any of the Yankee starters did. I get the feeling, though, that if the Yankees had Rogers and Weaver on the staff they'd still be on vacation. The Yankees have an abundance of old and lousy starters. The problem is that they pitch like shit in the post season. The Yankees need to find a way to make their shitty pitchers pitch well like the Tigers, Mets and Cardinals have.

What you're seeing
This is why i think all the talk about what's wrong with this team is crap. Yes, they could use better pitching, but it wasn't lack of chemistry or having a lineup of all-stars that made the Yankees lose. They just didn't play well. That happens in a short series. You just have to put together the best team you can and hope they play well in the postseason.
Nobody talks about what's wrong with a team if they lose 3 out of 4 to a worse team in the regular season. We all like to think that the playoffs are different, that everyone plays to their true talent and the best team wins. But that's not how it goes. Learning to accept that makes the regular season more enjoyable and a playoff loss slightly less depressing
