Indians hold on for a 6-5 Win

Leiter's control problems put us in a 6-1 hole ( five walks in two innings ) and we couldn't dig out. Al has got to throw the ball over the plate or else he is useless. His stuff is still good enough to win with, but he's falling back to the same habits that got him released by Florida.
I understand that he's an emergency pickup, but please Al stop nibbling. If they hit you...fine. Scott Proctor finally showed some life signs as he kept us in the game, but we cannot keep having to score seven runs a game to win.

The Yanks lose another game to Boston and the A's in the standings and unless we get some consistent starting pitching we are not going to slug ourselves into the playoffs. Do I sound redundant much?

Pathetic
I really hated tonight's loss. Partially because it dropped us to 3 1/2 back behind Boston, but also because Leiter was so awful and Jeter didn't come through in the clutch and Posada dropped that ball at the plate and Giambi struck out, like, three times. Oh, and Sheffield stood there admiring his non-homer and ended up on first instead of second.

But mostly, if we're gonna stage dramatic comebacks in the late innings, we've got to manufacture our own runs, not just wait for the other team to make mistakes.

As I wrote elsewhere...
I'm not really sure Leiter has anything left.  My perception tonight was not that he was afraid to throw the ball across the plate, as much as he really couldn't throw the ball across the plate.

Pitching Pitching Pitching
How many times have we learned over and over again that it's PITCHING that wins championships?  If your offense if scoring 5 runs at a clip that should be enough for your team to win games.
