Open Thread: Game 57-Yanks vs Brewers

After yesterday's "Brown Out" it's off to play the Brew Crew. I remember the team they had in 82' I still can't understand how they lost to the Red Birds.

Anyway, another pitiful loss. Shefield should have caught that ball in the sixth and the inning would have been over. Brown seems to lose his cool over the time of day, and the Yanks can't consistantly get a clutch hit. Throw in Paul Quantrill for a little topping and you get a 9-3 final.

If Randy Johnson is going to pitch a good game now would be a nice time. I remember Clemens  year and a half struggles in pinstripes before he settled down to pitch well. Is Randy going through the same symptoms?

Left On Base...
When was the last time someone saw a pitcher walk the first three hitters of an inning and get out without giving up a run? Look no further than tonight. Completely unacceptable to have such poor at-bats in that type of situation. Another frustrating evening here watching the Bronx Bombers.

what the hell is going on?
Did the entire team forget how to play baseball?

The key to this latest debacle was...
Posada's at bat with no outs following three walks to start off the inning. I figured with Giambi following, his DP was a given so it was up to Jorge to at least get a run in with a fly ball or something. That something would have been another walk had he not felt the need to consistently swing at balls over his head. It seems to me that the Yankees have not figured out that if a pitcher walks three batters in a row, perhaps he is having a little trouble with his control. Perhaps it would be an interesting twist to not swing the bat until he throws an f'ing strike. What happened to the famous patience at the plate the Yankees exhibited all those winning years? Maybe they could ask Chris Chambliss to come in for a day and have a word with them.

Have faith in the Yankees my son. Think of the great DiMaggio.

What the hell has the happen for these guys to wake up?

Giambi Factor
Not for nothing, but if these guys actually aren't happy to be playing, and don't seem to care, which some here have speculated (and I agree with) maybe it has something to do with Giambi still playing for this team.
I'm not trying to suggest that these guys are throwing games, but how motivated can they be knowing that Giambi can play like $h!t, refuse to go down to the minors, and still make $80 million?  Maybe I'm reaching here but I don't think this team would be so doom-and-gloom if Jason "I can still play" Giambi and Kevin "No you can NOT trade me" Brown were gone.
Screw it.  Mr. Torre should just sit everyone and play the bench.  Phillips, Cano, Sanchez, Johnson and Flaherty infield and Ruben, Bubba and Womack outfield.  Play Ball.
