Epstein resigns as Red Sox GM -- TAKE THE POLL
BOSTON (AP) -- Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein resigned Monday, surprising Boston and the baseball world just one year after he helped build the franchise's first World Series championship team since 1918.
Cashman has good timing signing on a few days ago...George would have undoubtably tried to snag Epstein otherwise. Should He still try?

No one wants to play for Boston...
Who wants to play for Boston? They have less loyalty than any team I have I can think of.
They leave thier own free agents out to dry to the last minute, often electing to sign cheaper free agents.
One reason the Yankees have people want to play for them: LOYALTY- Jeter, Posada, Bernie (until this year), Rivera, etc. have been here since they started in the majors....which means they make more and more money each year....results in higher payroll, but its worth it to keep your stars around and happy...who does Boston have left?
Nixon and Varitek, thats pretty much it, I think.
Varitek was almost lost last off season when Boston screwed around and waited.
They are screwed up, but no one will admit it since the media still loves them because of 2004. Lets see how they do without Manny next year...even if they get Konerko...they may be without thier "beloved" Bill Mueller as they probably won't want to pay him....Shilling is finished as far as I am concerned....Clement needs surgery I think?....Wells is gone....I guess David Ortiz will have to hit a homerun every at bat next season...
